OkCupid is pretty retarded, if the name itself didn't already advertise that with a huge neon sign. I'd go as far as to say all online dating sites are a waste, but OkCupid is the only one I've tried. So far I've sparked up conversations with a few girls, but rarely do I respond past 2 messages because I get bored too fast. Maybe I'm just not investing enough energy into it, but flirting over the internet really disconnects me. At times it seems too artificial because there's no facial expressions, eye contact, tone of voice, body language, etc. To be fair, that's more my fault than OkCupid's, but it doesn't change the synthetic feel of it all.
Speaking of synthetic, it seems the majority of OkCupid members are either utterly horrible at describing themselves or just boring in general. "I just like to laugh, have fun, and hang out with friends!" Let's not forget the infamous "I love all music except rap and country." Well, then you don't love all music do you, you cardboard cutout? Perhaps I'm just a critical bastard, but I can't help but painfully groan aloud when I read some of these profiles.
I've heard eHarmony sucks less, but that has yet to be seen. I'm going to keep a passive interest in this online dating stuff, if only because it cures boredom temporarily before it ironically becomes the cause of it.
