Probably the most important poem I've ever written
I walk these grounds with impunity
I exist
I deserve to be here
With flowers and fireworks
In my belly that no one
Put there but me
And I decide who can enter this garden
I am fae and dragon child
Magic written in and spattered on my skin
Blessed
Loved by those that know
Growing from broken pieces of
Those who tried to break me, tame me
I am a wilderness to get lost in
A library to curl up in and devour
Are you brave enough to run with a wolf?
Or will you stay behind that safe garden fence?
Are you curious enough to crack open
Dusty volumes of scars and feel that magic?
Or will you sift through well handled spines of certain volumes that look pleasant?
I do not need another to watch me burn
I light up the sky with color anyway
Even on my worst day
I blaze because I have survived
On nothing but a few sparks and embers
On my tongue
I have touched honey, hearts and God herself
And I am thankful
Thankful for rose petal stitches and healing flesh
Star-splashed eyes and a heart too big to truly break
A song heard in the melody of a broken piano
An a capella siren call
I do not need another soul
But the woods are lonely sometimes
And there is such magic in two voices
And I am human
So don't be afraid to walk the forest a while
Just to visit...
