First of all, I apologize but I have a very long confession to make, both as a fan for more than a decade, and also as a member of a known fan society dedicated to keeping this show alive, and studying it in greater depth.
But this is the internet; there are always people like that within each and every fandom. Not just Evangelion.
People are entitled to give their views on the series and make moves to attempt to explain their ideas to others. Some people go too far and claim that their ideas are facts but really, it is entirely possible for another person to disregard what another person thinks. If you don't like people claiming to be 'experts' then simply ignore them and such.
And using the idea of altering the 'there is no 'I' in team' phrase to this fandom doesn't really work. There is an 'i' in both Genesis and Evangelion.

A single person cannot claim to be the sole source, or the mover, or the center of the fandom universe.
I am supposed to enjoy watching, but fandom politics and factionalism is getting in the way that it's killing my enjoyment. So I told these so-called "experts" to shut their traps, drop the childish bickering, and look at how much damage are they're doing.
Then don't go to websites which are likely to have such discussions or avoid pages which look as though they have such a thing.
From the fact that i've never seen anyone claim themselves to be an 'expert' or gotten that vibe from speculation pages it's entirely possible to do unless you're purposely looking for them.
