The embroidery on Mari’s tippets went much better once I’d interfaced the ground fabric and put it in a hoop. Got the work done, the tippets constructed, and the lot in the mail by the end of March. Even got Thomas to take pictures, and will post them if he ever sends them to me.
Working steadily but not nearly fast enough on Regencies for Costume-Con: finished a second chemise and put a new, boned bodice and an extra panel on an old petticoat. Now working on an evening dress with a surplice neckline that doesn’t look like it will be high enough for to wear either the corset or the petticoat underneath. When I figured that out, I bought more canvas and lined the bodice in it: then I cut the bodice overlays completely wrong and had to redesign the bodice to accommodate the limited fabric in the sari I was using. The dress was originally based on Bradfield’s Costume in Detail, page 103-now not so much. Hope to get the bodice finished and the sleeves started tonight. Realistically, I should be glad to get the one dress done in time for the con; secretly, of course, I’m hoping to get it and a second evening dress done as well.
We had Easter at Otuell and Mora’s, which was really nice, and which also means I came home with a big bag of lemons, as they have two mature trees in the back yard and have figured out that people who give me lemons eventually end up with boxes of candied lemon peel. The lemons sat in the laundry room for several weeks while I ran around doing other stuff, then I noticed they were heading west at a furious pace, so I pitched the moldy ones, scrubbed the non-moldy ones, and got cooking. It made for nice presents to hand to sundry folk at Crown, although I’ll probably have to mail Otuell and Mora’s to them, we see them so seldom.
And I’ve run through my entire supply of Altoids tins, and will have to start aggressively cadging them again.
More later. Gotta leave work.
