Ok so living in Toronto I'm getting used to not being able to walk two feet without passing by some multi-cultural restaurant. There's pretty much everything here for everyone.

So why the hell can't I find a pizza place that actually makes garlic fingers? Or anyone that knows what donair sauce is? They're even tastier than the pizzas for the most ( Read more... )

what are they?

BTW there are quite a few things you can get in NL that you can't get here ... NL has it's own indigenous traditional foods.

Purity Syrup, for one LOL

Garlic fingers are more like a pizza than actual garlic bread, only cut differently. It's pizza dough, smothered in garlic butter and mozzerella cheese, sometimes bacon bits or whatever else and it tastes oh so good. Donair sauce for dipping is also mandatory but apparently that's not too popular here either. I know it's probably full of fat and cholesterol and makes your breath smell like 6 asses but it tastes so good!

Think I am gonna miss some things that I didn't expect to like Purity cookies and such. I never really cared about Jig's dinner but am already starting to miss homemade snowballs!

Americans complain about not being able to get "soul food" either. *shrug* I bet you can find these pizza-stick things under some other name, I remember seeing stuff like that just never paid any attention. "Donair sauce" too probably, it's most likely some kind of mayo based thing from the sound of it.

Myself I do without thai food ever again ever.

Well I'll keep an eye out for them. They sell them frozen in supermarkets but not really the same taste. And looking back most of the pizza places I went to back home were Newfoundland exclusive names.

Donair sauce actually is vinegar and garlic based, I was desperate last night and looked up the recipe :)

You can't find a good thai place in Toronto?
