9-11-10

Honestly, not sure what to write at this junction.  But I feel compelled to write something.  For better or worse, 9-11-01 will be the defining moment for our generation.  And not just for Americans.  9-11-01 definitely changed the world in no uncertain terms.

And yet here we are, nine years later, almost a friggen decade later.  Ground Zero is still a hole in the ground.  The US is entrenched in a seemingly never ending "war on terror," err, excuse me, global fight against extremism, or whatever the hell the Obama administration is calling it.

It's almost hard to think of life before 9-11.

Maybe, just maybe, ignorance is bliss.  It's not as if terrorism didn't exist before 9-11, it's just that we didn't think about it, because it didn't involve us.  The world just seemed to be a simpler place.  And as a guy who's now neck deep in academic literature about the world after 9-11, sometimes I wish it were.
