Alright, the chance for a test finally arrived and just the way I like it, quickly and perfectly. As discussed in my previous post of generalizations of social concepts and etc, I need to be more outgoing when in the company of strangers. I find a comfort zone in surrounded by people I know or surroundings such as pool night but in other situations it doesn't work out so well and I keep to myself.
Well, I was invited to a bday party by someone I barely knew with only a few people I knew going. When I get there, I only knew the birthday gal and she was busy floating from one group of people to the next so, I found the perfect opportunity.
The night went well, after speaking to a gal and her friend I sat down with a bunch of random guys, struck up a conversation with one of the guys and wound up talkin to the entire table, afterwards settling into the blue room to play pool and chat some more, and thus more people to invite to my party. Hilarity ensues. I met new people, I had a good time and developed just a bit more social confidence.
This birthday will actually give me something to contemplate, something to actually look back at and see some form of personal progress that I haven't seen since I left Canso. It's been something I've just sort of realized and will probably be on my mind for a little bit, to see how Basic, Victoria, a month at sea and time home afterwards has changed me.
