Quick Hello!

Nov 28, 2018 23:40

Just stopping in for a short post. I can't wait until I have time to catch up on how everyone is doing!
  • My apartment building decided my floor is getting new windows put in. I'd be excited if it weren't in the low 30s outside every day. Not sure whose dumb idea this was... They shold be getting installed at some point in early December.
  • My couch has arrived! Oh man, it's so comfy and my quality of life has noticably improved. Who would have thought one piece of furniture could do that??? And plus, now I can have company come over and have a real place to sit that isn't on one of my hard-seat dining room chairs of which I only have 2.
  • I decorated a bit for the holidays! I hung up some snowy wall decals, a light-up snowflake, and I even set up my very first christmas tree that is all my own! It stands at 5' tall, but the tree itself is maybe 3.5'-4'. It sits in a decorative urn and the needles are silver-frosted. It also has a string of lights through it and looks super pretty at night when it is lit up. My mother gifted me an ornament. It is a door with 2018 on it, to commemorate my first Christmas in my own apartment with my own tree. I tried to decorate my door, but my complex uses suuuuuper cheap paint and everything kept falling off and taking the paint with it. Like, even plain old scotch tape. It's pathetic. So I may just decorate the inside of my door instead.
  • My ethics class still hasn't improved, but at least it is almost over. We take our final between Dec 10-14. We haven't gotten our test codes yet, though, so we can't schedule our exam yet. For the spring I am already signed up to take Principles of Marketing and Macroeconomics. I think Marketing will be a lot of fun, but Macroeconomics is going to be over my head. I will study up a bit over winter break and try to get a general knowledge foundation going in. I have never had a head for economics.
  • D&D has been going ok. We have only had one session since I last posted about it, and Lumberjack causing issues. He did significantly better this last session, and the whole time went pretty smoothly, for the most part. He keeps insistng on splitting the party so he can do his own thing, but at least he stopped bossing others around and telling everyone to hurry up when it wasn't his own turn. It was positive progress, and I am remaining on the hopeful side that it continues to improve.
  • NaNoWriMo is almost over. I hit my 50k today, but I feel bleh about this year. With the BS that has been my Ethics class, I had to tag myself as a NaNo Rebel and count my stupid homework. Like, I'm sorry, but my homework assignments average 6 pages each, and we have 4 due every week. That's 24 freaking pages a week of nonsense that I basically make up because the links they provide are all broken. So I guess I could toss it all together and say I wrote a fictional ethics textbook this month, and it is all well over 50k words. There weren't any winner goodies that really jumped out at me, unfortnately. We have a bunch of people on the Discord server who have won already, and it is cool to see. Our final virtual write-in of the month is tomorrow, and I am excited to see if anyone hits 50k during it.There are a couple people that I think will, if they join in.
Anyway, I am going to run. It's late. Hope you all are doing awesomely!!!
