All day I have been thinking it's Wednesday... My roommate decided to have loud company over, and they didn't seem to care about their noise level until I went out at 2am and asked them to keep it down. I think their friends keep forgetting that I've moved in, and it's not just them anymore. I don't have much of any complaints aside from their not-so-pleasant cooking, but I don't think it's terribly considerate to have loud company over until 2am on a school/work night. Some people actually have these things called morning classes... Either take it to the lounge or save it for the weekend, please, if you plan to keep things going after midnight.
Anyway, for my riding class this morning I rode this lovely horse named Rufus. He's very well behaved and mannered, but he doesn't like to hold his form terribly well. In dressage, form is darn near everything, so we spent a fair amount of time working on his frame. It was nice today, because there was only 3 of us in lesson instead of the usual 4, so the assistant instructor took me to one end for a bit for more personalized time, since I'm technically a few levels higher than the others in my lesson. I feel like I got more out of those 10 minutes than I have in 3 normal group lessons. Ugh, how I don't like group lessons. Made me miss my days apprenticing.
I'm not complaining about my class, though. I dropped to the lower level dressage class (we only have 2 levels, haha) because I'm not on or planning to join the dressage team, and they have nationals coming up, so I don't want to be in their way while they practice during their lesson. Last semester I was in the upper level class and pretty much every lesson was spent practicing for dressage competitions... I feel like I missed out on learning a lot and got shoved to the side all of the time. So I dropped to the lower level. Plus, I feel you can learn from any level, even if you're a high level rider in a lower level class. It's good to go back to basics and work on your foundation. Also, since I already know what my classmates are learning, it gives me time to work on things that I know I need to work on, but didn't get the chance to last semester.
Heh, I feel bad for poor Rufus. His care person hasn't clipped him yet, so he is a wooly mammoth. It was about 35 degrees during our lesson, and he was sweating like crazy afterward! It wasn't even a tough lesson! Poor guy, I spent extra time cooling him down and grooming him.
My own care horse, Twist, threw a shoe this morning, so he got the day off. I still visited him for a few minutes to say hello and check on him. I like Twist a lot. I don't get why so many people don't like him. He's got a very sensitive back when you ride, so you have to be careful not to hit the saddle hard. He also has a tendency to fidget and kick when you tighten his girth. I plan to work on that with him when it starts getting warmer. Aside from that, he's got great manners and is lovely to ride! He just makes angry faces at people walking by. He's not mean at all, though. He's a big softie, he just looks a bit threatening sometimes. Spend two minutes with him and he turns into a loveable lap dog.
After my lesson I was incredibly tired. I don't know why I was so tired today! I actually took a nap after my second class. I got back to campus at 3, ran out to the store real quick, came back, and napped for a solid 2 hours. I never nap. I don't know what was up. It was nice, though! I just feel like I didn't accomplish as much as I could have today. Which isn't true. I actually accomplished more than I planned to, once I woke back up. I got started on a little research for a paper due in April, and I did 2 versions of a barn layout due on thursday. Only one is due, I just couldn't decide which layout I preferred. I will make a final decision tomorrow.
In gaming news, I'm pretty excited. I'm not terribly good at stealth games, but there is one that I very much enjoy for numerous reasons, the least of which being the antics I can get up to in it. Styx: Master of Shadows. I very much enjoy it. Today, I learned that the company is planning to release a sequel at some point this year! Styx: Shards of Darkness. I need to start searching couch cushions and under vending machines so I can get it when it is released. I'm pretty excited. I'm probably one of only a few, but that's ok. We'll have fun without everyone else~
Got so wrapped up in planning out my barn that before I knew it, it was 11:30! I aim for lights out at 11, so I'm glad I don't have class until 10:30 tomorrow.
Anyway... Overall, it was a good, if sleepy, day!
