Learning to Breathe... Literally.

Got myself a massive head cold. I am on day 4: the beginning of the great tissue massacre. Here is hoping this cold goes away quickly x.x

The beginning of the week was pretty uneventful. At least that's what I'm going with. This cold is making it hard to remember what I even did that long ago. Wednesday, according to my fun little calendar, was "Extraterrestrial Culture Day", so I celebrated after classes by sitting outside enjoying the nice weather and writing more of my story. I don't get to write much lately, especially since this is my last semester, so it was nice to take some time and work on it.

Wednesday night they preemptively cancelled everything for Thursday. We ended up getting only a couple inches that stuck, since the weather the day before was so warm. Since it snowed the temp hadn't gone above 40 degrees. I really don't care for winter. If I could find a climate where the temp was 50-75 year-round, I would never leave. Anyway, since I had the day off I tried to get more research and planning done for my thesis. My acquiantances pestered me throughout the day, but I managed to get at least a little bit read. Friday was much the same.

Friday night, Dragon Age Girl visited me around 9.30pm, extremely upset. She had been on the phone with her parents for a good while, and it turns out that she may have to sell her horse. Now, she sold her old horse over the summer and refused to come back to school without having a new horse around here. Mind you, we have a barn of 107 horses of all levels and personality types that we have free access to whenever the sun is up. But she had to have a horse of her own. Her father visits on the weekends on a regular basis, and during their horse search I kept asking the more practical quastions about the horses, what to look for, warning signs, skill levels, and more. She was very emotional about the entire process, though, and ignored all of the points her father and I brought up. She saw this horse and got caught up in him being cute. She test rode him, but unfortunately he came from a sale barn, so I would put money on the thought that they probably gave the horse a mild sedative. Plus, sale barns dont know or care about where the horse came from, and can tell you nothing about it except maybe "well, it has 4 legs... It's standing up and breathing, so I guess it's alive..." Granted, there are respectable sale barns out there, I am not meaning all of them are like this. Anyway, she rushed the decision after two test rides where all she did was walk and trot around. It was what she wanted, though, and she said she would put i the time and work, so her parents bought her the horse. Now she is regretting it. She is still a fairly low-level huntseat rider, and the horse is green. He needs someone who can put daily training in. She sees him once a week and doesn't have the first idea of how to teach a horse something new. She really needs a horse who can help her keep learning and improving. Turns out, this horse spooks at everything, spins, bucks, runs off, and is far too much of a handful for her. Her parents are looking to sell it, so she is upset because she won't have a horse of her own anymore. I pointed out that we have an entire barn of over 100 horses at our disposal, and all of them could use some TLC. Over the summers she could also lease from the school or lease a horse from back home. Her parents loved my idea, because it also meant that they could save up money and shop around for a better quality horse. She is only a sophomore, so if they waited until she graduated they could get her a really nice horse to learn on and grow with. But she is a 20-year-old toddler when things don't go exactly as she wants, so she is throwing a fit and demanding if they sell it she has to get a new horse right away because she "can't live without one of [her] own." Ugh, it's aggravating. I like her like a little sister, but sometimes she frustrates me.

Saturday was an awesome day. I went to visit my best friend again. The plus side of being up here for school is that now she is only an hour away, so I can visit her once in a while. We went to a mall near her, and wandered around. I learned about art markers and had fun coloring with gel pens (I'm not an art person, but I am easily amused by gel pens~). We went to Barnes and Noble and I got two new books (Apocalypse Now Now (Human) and The Light Fantastic (Pratchett)) and a mini desk aquarium.

At Hot Topic I picked up a couple of the mystery box figures. I got a Gir plushie keychain, a cute little Deadpool statue, and an adorable little comic Deadpool button. I'm pretty excited because they were all the ones that I wanted! I usually have really horrible luck with the mystery boxes. I also got myself comfy Assassin's Creed guys pajama pants and a Lego Batman tank that says "GO TEAM ME" that I very much enjoyed. I'm hoping to see the Lego Batman movie soon. We wrapped up the mall trip with a stop in the amazingly wonderful candy store, where I got myself some snacks. After the mall we hung out and chatted for a while. She even showed me the demo for For Honor, and it looks pretty fun!

TV Shows/Movies: During Wednesday and Thursday I rewatched most of Firefly, my favorite show. I don't think I will ever get tired of it. I am also just about finished with Glee. I am on season 6 episode 12. It's getting a little better, but less realistic with every "plot twist". I also kind of miss them doing classic songs more often. I feel like now it's once every 4 episodes or so. On the Supernatural front, I am on season 6, episode 2. Making slow, but steady progress.

In terms of movies, the only notable one I have watched recently was Kingsglaive. I finally got around to watching it and... *dreamy sigh* I have a new favorite FFXV character. Sorry Gladio, but Nyx... yep. I refuse to believe what happened to him happened. Nope. He is out there somewhere being awesome. Shhhh don't tell me different.

Gaming: I haven't had much time this week to play, but I did spend a little time in Destiny. I miss being in space, and it was nice to bum around again. I don't have a fireteam anymore, which means the difficulty has been upped, but I don't mind. They must have changed some of the rules for drops, which is nice because it means I won't necessarily have to hop into LFG and raid a ton just to get better gear. I also spent some time in Thief at some point, but I can't remember if that was this week or last week. I am a couple chapters in and looking forward to continuing it.

Hope everyone had a great week!
