Japanese dinner with classmates at Izakaya Mai was awesome. An izakaya is a Japanese place for casual drinking and eating. Lots of sharable dishes, and plenty of beer and sake. Happy to hear you're happy! Next time you visit Sapporo, we'd take you to several izakaya, except they allow smoking. Until then, I'll be enjoying jenever (fruity sweet Belgian gin, gluhwijn (spiced warm wine), and pralines.

That would be awesome. I'd love to see what a real izakaya is like, even if I have to brave smoke to do so.

So you like the jenever, eh? I made myself sick on gin when I was fifteen and have never re-acquired a taste for it. Perhaps I should give it another look. I am very fond of Belgian lambics though.

Hope you and Noriko are enjoying Christmas in Europe.
