Bizzaro World Politics: No Means Yes
Here's the thing about Prop 8. It's kind of a Bizzaro world thing, where no means yes, and yes means no. Clear as mud? Here are some definitions.
I originally posted the following as part of a comment to an entry on jbmcdragon's journal.
Definition of Terms for Proposition 8:
Prop 8 is a proposition to amend the California State Constitution to define marriage as being only between a man and a woman. Under the current constitution, the California Supreme Court has held that same-sex marriage is legal. Prop 8, if it passes, would take away the right of same-sex couples to marry.
People who are FOR Prop 8 are AGAINST gay marriage. They want the constitutional amendment, which would prohibit same-sex marriage. They will vote YES on Prop 8.
People who are AGAINST Prop 8 are FOR gay marriage. They do not want to change California's constitution. They believe same-sex marriage should continue to be legal, and will vote NO on Prop 8.
So anyway, since me am working on the No on 8 campaign...
Vote NO on Prop 8, and keep same-sex marriage legal and equal to opposite-sex marriage.
