Artwerk part deux

I drew a "refined" version of the angel on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I was impatient and inked it with a permanent marker instead of looking for a fine-liner or brush pen like I should have. Because a the ink in a permanent marker contains loads of solvent, and I was working on water-colour friendly drawing cartridge, the paper soaked up the ink like a thirsty sponge. The result is an almost complete loss of line control. However, since the image is going to be reproduced quite small, I can just clean up some of the nastier bits with GIMP and get away with it.

Below are two more thumbnails (the files I'm working with are about five times the resolution) of how it's going. On the left is the image I drew, pretty much as-is, and on the right is the colouring work-in-progress. As you can see, on my lunch break today I managed to colour and shade all of her skin, and fill in her hair and wings with flat colour, both of which need some more shading/highlights or they'll just be terribly dull. Can't have that ;b

Originally I was going to cut off the sticker somewhere around the top of her hips, and I only drew her full figure to make sure her posture was OK. But frankly her bum has turned out so attractively that I think I'll use the whole figure for the sticker. I wish I'd drawn her legs curled up to her side now. Drat.
