Spoilers
Dude fishing and eating a burger encounters something strange. Basically a teaser intro like those found on the show.
So a dude and chick are kissing on the shore and they drew the guy like Sam for some reason, except he's extremely ugly. Must be the hair. Anyway, the monster feels the girl's ass and they turn to see A MONSTER SHADOW THING and cut to the titles. Then cut to S&D fixing the car.
I can't get over how Dean has GREY VASH HAIR. WHAT THE HELL?! WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?! WHY IS HE SO UGLY LOOKING?! No wonder Jensen didn't voice.
But aside from that, I will keep saying what I've been saying: Divorce this from the live action show and it's a good paranormal anime that just happens to have a lot in common with a certain live action show.
I also maintain my admiration for Jared's flap matching. He's better than some pros I've seen.
So S&D overhear three dudes in matching grey jumpsuits talking about looking for "a creature." So this time they just happened upon something weird. I will choose to believe Metallicar knew about it and broke down on purpose so they would take care of it.
Sam is researchy, Dean is skeptical. Apparently dying bees = demons. Thanks, Sam.
Dean's necklace looks like a big gold arrowhead or something.
OH they do something awesome. The couple flashes back to driving away. They try to wipe handprints off their windshield, but the wipers won't do the trick, so the lady pokes one of the prints, revealing they were made from the inside. DOOOOOM. Well, I thought it was cool anyway. As to how they survived, your guess is as good as mine.
So S&D walk around in the woods and banter before chasing something in the woods which turns out to be the three guys in matching grey jumpsuits. Why are they dressed like that? Is there a good reason?
Back in the motel, Dean wants to leave cause they didn't see anything. Sammy is still curious. I wonder if there is a real reason Dean wants to go or if he is just genuinly not interested in Nessie.
So lightning strikes the tent of The Trio. S&D are magically teleported there to hear their account and they find a scale.
Apparently this is an Asian water demon. Neat.
God, the Girl of the Week is pretty. In an animated red-head kind of way. And she tends to have Dean's unflattering shadowing. But still. I hope she doesn't sleep with Sam, cause even in the anime that is a death sentence.
Lol everyone is outside in the rain wearing raincoats. Making this another episode the show couldn't do cause everyone looks silly.
I gotta say, this is a simple monster hunt episode (think "Wendigo," except half the length), but that's kind of what this show does best.
What the hell? Massive river suddenly appears. And then the rain magically stops. So I guess two guys named Willy and Chuck have been killed. Oh wait, psyche. And everyone is surprised and Dean looks stupid. Sam says he has to check something so they teleport to the hospital to talk to the victim from the teaser who says he wasn't attacked, he just had a problem with his pace maker. Sam concludes that the monster isn't an Asian water demon, but is actually a friendly water monster which saved them from Massive River, lightning strikes, and such. How did the monster know that the dude was having heart problems and needed to see a doctor? Is it the sea monster version of House? Also the couple would have been in a big car accident if they hadn't been run off the road. So now the thing (which Sam says is a Kappa, also Japanese) CAN PREDICT AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENTS?
I thought Kappa were mischievous, but I'm actually not up on my Kappa lore. People aren't having that much of a problem buying this, but I want to know how aquatic things can tell when someone needs to have their ticker checked, much less how it knows someone would be in an accident if they didn't pull over.
Whatever, I don't see the show ever doing a monster episode where the monster is benign and doesn't need killing.
Oh crap, a big gaudy truck from the beginning was a clue to what must have been fake demon signs XD I noticed it and made nothing of it, haha. So those are a lot of random coincidences which only looked like demonic activity.
So the pretty girl gets in a car with the three guys who are STILL wearing matching grey jumpsuits which look like prison uniforms. What the hell? And here comes the terrible cover.
Post Credits: There's a neat drawing during the credits of them sort of making a tent off the side of the impala by hooking a tarp to the roof o_0 I need to take screencaps of the credit art, cause I like it a lot.
Anyway, on with the scene. Oh SHIT the three guys have been murdered. THE RED HEAD WAS FUCKING MEG!! DAMMIT. She was wearing a wig. Another thing the live action show couldn't pull off.
(er, wouldn't possessing someone else be easier than wearing a wig?)
(though in the anime I think there is more of a reason behind Meg possessing THAT particular girl (who is named Meg here. I can't really remember. Good thing I took extensive notes XD)
That was pretty good. Not a great episode, but it did things the show hasn't done and as Freak of the Week episodes go it's not bad. Nowhere near as obnoxious as The John Winchester show I watched last time. Ugh. It's kind of formulaic, aside from the twist, but I enjoyed it. Pretty art, as always. Aside from poor dear Dean.
