(no subject)
This weekend was fairly ok.
Went to the Erotic Ball on Friday. Managed to put together a "faerie" costume of some sort, since that was the theme that we were supposed to do. Thankfully I had a girl to do my makeup, because I certainly can't jab myself in the eyes without killing me. The Erotic Ball was ok. The music kind of sucked, since it was all 80's reject. There was lots of skin though, and that's always a plus. It got kind of boring, so Kristin and I followed Kaebel to some house party. It sounded like a good idea, but once we got there we realized that we were tired and didn't know anyone there. Of course it was impossible to get a cab, so we walked from like 50th and Hawthorne to the gallery downtown. I routinely take walks of that length, but I'm proud of Kristin for making it. Of course now she has a limp.
Saturday I didn't really do anything except lay about. Angela knocked on my door at 5AM after they got back from some house party, and we ended up cuddling up until about noon. Speaking of which, I kind of have this new romance thing maybe happening. We'll see how it all works.
On Sunday I woke up and my computer failed. It's a refurbed photo terminal from some little photo lab store on the east coast that I took home as surplus from work. It was highly old and crappy, but ran Ubuntu fine. Now it doesn't run anything. So Kristin and I decided to have a productive day. First stop, Fry's, where I bought this little thing:
It's seriously tiny.
It has a dual core 2.5ghz Pentium, 5Gb of Ram, 500Gb of HDD space (SATA). I wasn't really impressed by the video card, so I bought an nVidia Geforce 9400 GT (512mb). It came with 64bit Vista installed. So far I love it. It's tiny and quiet. I'm busy torrenting all the games that I wasn't able to play before with a crappy 128mb card.
After that we went to Walmart and got painting stuff and went back to my house to finish painting my walls and ceilings. We still need to do one more coat, and I need to spraypaint the bookshelf, but then I'll be done with painting. Finally.
Can't wait until next payday, when I can get the 42" screen for my computer. Then all my money starts going into savings and paying off my car. Though I have another salary review coming up, and I'm just about assured a fat increase. I'm finally making more money than I have previously. And I love my job.
The holiday season is usually really busy for us, since a lot of old equipment gets dusted off and thoroughly put through it's paces for the first time since last christmas. I told my boss I was starting to burn out a bit and needed a break before then. So now I have every Wed off this month! It's like having 2 day work weeks! I'm on for two, off one, on two, off two. Sweetzor!
Now I have to go gather all my crap up, as I have to give a training presentation to the newbies this afternoon on hardware.
