[He starts to move away from her, drifting towards a doorway that he'd noticed before. That was the right one if he remembered the schematics correctly.]
[ he's not exactly ambling. someone's got a destination in mind, and if he's heading where she thinks he is, he could start some real trouble with whatever weapons he's no doubt managed to sneak past security - at the very least that cute little brace of his. lilah takes another sip of her champagne and heads after him, emptying the glass and placing it on a passing tray before entering the doorway he'd gone through. ]
[Wes has moved further down the corridor, he knows he's not yet anywhere where he shouldn't be. But there are guards further ahead, and probably wards of some kind. He freezes, however, sensing movement behind him.]
Checking up on me? I was looking for the men's room.
As sharp as always, I see, Lilah. Then if you know why I'm here, you'll know that I'm very determined to succeed. Perhaps it's best that you look the other way, this time.
[He's not about to admit to anything. Wes checks the next room, opening the door wide enough to glance inside, then close it again. He moves towards the end of the corridor but then is forced to retreat at the sound of patrolling footsteps. Ducking inside the same room he'd just checked, he pulls Lilah with him, one arm wrapped around her waist and the other clamped over her mouth should she think to alert the guards.]
[ yep, those security guards are gonna catch him and lilah just tags along to be able to enjoy the show. it's been a while since she's seen wes in action, and she can keep him from getting himself too killed. that's the plan, anyway, but she didn't think he'd try and pull her along with him when he ducks into a room to hide. lilah levels her gaze on him and tips her face out of his grip. her voice is low. ]
There's a lot more where that came from. Looks like you made the trip for nothing.
[He doesn't think she'd want him dead, not yet. Not while there's still a chance he could be an 'in' with Angel. He gives her his attention again, his gaze boring into hers. The light in the room is dim, she's mostly in shadow, but he can still see the faint smirk on her wicked ruby-hued lips.]
Why am I not surprised that you're attending this event?
[He sips at his own champagne.]

[ likewise, she doesn't look over at him either. ]

[His tone is deliberately casual.]
I wonder how many dirty deals it cost you.

Well that'd be in the other wing, where I guess you left all your good lies.

Isn't that what you're good at?

There's a lot of things I'm good at, I think you'll recall.
