Hey. You, uh, okay there?

I think so. It depends on how you define okay.

Well, usually I define okay as being safe, for one. Secure, relatively. Also as long as there's no one out there plotting your downfall.

Well, I don't know yet, seeing as how this is not where I intended to be. I was heading back to the Jeffersonian and then I was here.

As for someone plotting my downfall, I think I'm clear. What about you? Do you have reason to feel insecure?

Sorry, I should have introduced myself, I'm Dr. Lawrence Sweets.

[He holds out his hand to shake, seeing as how he needs some kind of normalcy in the midst of all the strangeness.]

[ he smiles and shakes the offered hand. ] Will Schuester. And you're not alone, seeing as this isn't where I should be either, Doctor. A lot of that going around, I suppose.

I've never been abducted before. I've been held inside the institute by shady government agents, but this...this is more surreal than that.

haha I knew it! acafellow October 24 2010, 08:18:35 UTC
Well, to be honest I've never been abducted before, either. My life as a teacher is... tame and boring, actually. [ glee club competitions, an ex-wife who had fooled him for a long time, and dealing with his students everyday aside.

he frowns a bit. ] Shady government agents?

I think if I talk about it, someone might actually have to kill me.

[He chuckles wryly.]

But, you're a teacher? That actually sounds like a pretty fulfilling kind of job to undertake. Any particular subject?

Huh. [ will's really not sure if that's a joke or not, since... well, shady government agents sound... well, shady. he smiles a bit, uncertain - until the doctor brings up something he can comfortably talk about. ] It is, very much. I teach Spanish at William McKinley High School in Ohio. I don't suppose you've heard of it?

Uh, the President William McKinley I've heard of, but your high school? Sorry no. Should I have? Has it been in the news lately?

[His immediate thought is of some unfortunate shooting incident. But that's morbid, so he tries to keep his expression positive in its inquiry.]

Um. [ ...wait, are regionals even newsworthy to other parts of the country? ] If it is, it's probably because of... small things. You know, cheerleading competitions, football games... or our glee club. Nothing too serious. [ especially none that will attract shady government agents. hopefully. ]

What about you, doctor? Have you been practicing long?

Oh, you think I'm a medical doctor. [He shakes his head at the usual confusion he deals with.] I'm a psychologist. But I've been at it for about three years now, in fact I'm writing my own book.

[He thinks about what else Will mentioned.]

You have a good glee club? I was a jazz club member myself. Never got into the singing gig. The piano, on the other hand...

[ will rubs the back of his neck. oops? ] Right. Sorry about that. Good luck on your book, though.

[ aaaand goldmine. ] Well... yeah. I can honestly say that we have a fantastic glee club. The singing's a huge part of it, but some of my kids do know how to play instruments, too. Very... very talented, all of them. [ it's obvious that he really does love those kids, and that he's damn proud of them too. ] The piano, huh. I bet you're very good at it.

Thanks.

[He listens with interest as Will describes his glee club and the kids he's teaching.]

I do enjoy playing. It's more of a hobby really, but I don't have as much time for it as I'd like.

So, you sing too, I take it? You're the glee club director?

[It's an intuitive leap to make, but something in Will's enthusiasm feels personal.]

Yeah, I do. Nothing big like Broadway, though. [ there was a chance for him to play lead at a small production, but he had to give that up for the glee club to remain open. ]

Something like that. I teach the kids some of the concepts in singing. We also take up several lessons on music, but mostly I just let them express themselves through songs of their own choice.

[ he looks around them. ] I bet a place as nice as this has a piano lurking about somewhere. Once I find one, I'll definitely let you know.

Definitely a worthy cause. Finding non-destructive avenues of self-expression is extremely important in the teen years.

[He's well aware that he still looks not that far removed from a teenager himself. In fact, it's something he deals with regularly in his line of work.]

If you find a piano, I'll definitely want to know. But is it true? We're stuck here, with no feasible way back?

I'm still trying to make heads or tails of all of this.
