Murdoc was pissed when Sands ordered him to give over the ring he's kept secret from everyone else in the world. When the agent took it from him to change into a woman and try to win back the Mexican that's so much better than Muds. He was damn angry, but he didn't stop it. He couldn't. He just went home.
Now, though, Muds is hurting. Things are falling apart with Stu and he has no one to talk to who will understand. Just his brother. Han understands Murdoc but not relationships and is weird about Stu anyway. Murdoc wants to talk to Sands. He wants someone to be angry with him or tell him he's stupid and distract him. Anything. He wants his best friend... But his best friend robbed him and left him behind. Fuck Sands.
And Muds plans to.
The idea makes him nervous, but it needs to be done. Sands deserves this and it will make Muds feel better, he thinks. So he goes to the second floor and knocks on a door he's never bothered with before. One he's avoided since it became occupied. He knocks on the door that will leave him talking to himself. Murdoc knows things he would want himself to know.
