PERSON! Friend-type person with the hair that's a little better to play with than Schreber's! Orwell has knocked over a couple small pieces of equipment, or someone has at least, and there's some kind of unfinished work filling a couple of vials on the tables. He's been alone for a couple of hours now, and Melinda yelled at him, and Schreber wouldn't wake up, and it's past dinnertime. Orwell is very happy to see Courtney and flies straight to her, making lots of little croaking noises and nibbling on her ear maybe a little harder than he should.
"Ow! Stoppit..." She preens the feathers on his wings absently as she makes a thorough inspection of the room. There's a weird prickling sensation on the back of her neck as she circles the place. An aftereffect of the tuning? Some sort of residual power? But where the fuck is the body, if Schreber's dead?
Oh shit...what if he crawled off in search of help? He could be anywhere in the labs by now. "C'mon, Orwell...we need to try and find your buddy."
There's also a little bit of blood next to some tiny pieces of glass on the floor, but not a lot of other evidence of what went on. Orwell flies off her shoulder to where these are and picks up and drops pieces of glass with his beak. He's not really bright enough to be trying to pull her attention to it, but they're pieces of Schreber's broken glasses and familiar and he wants Schreber back.
"Yeah...okay." She picks up the bits carefully and shoves them in her pocket, then heads down the hallway slowly, looking for a blood trail or any other signs.
The alternate Schreber manages to open a portal inside the labs, but not quite where he'd like. So it's still a bit of a walk to the first Schreber's lab, and he's breathing a little more heavily than he'd like.
At the moment he's too scared for the other Schreber to care, though, so he shoves the door open without knocking and peers in. "Hello . . . ?"

There is blood on the carpet, and feathers, and very conspicuously no one there, alive or dead.
((I AM TOO LATE. *melodramatic angst* That sounds fine. The hospital people are probably weirded out enough already without him showing up there, anyway.))
Schreber looks around at the mess, a little confused. If his alternate really is dead, the body's clearly been moved by now, which means the Nexus outside is probably in an uproar. The best option, painful as it is, seems to be sitting down and waiting, so he takes a seat on the couch, heaving a deep sigh.
His alternate has a computer, which just happens to be on and running and focused on the Nexus. Courtney's latest entry may pop up on the screen, if he's watching...
