Squirrel vs. bird

Hey everyone
My name is Issa Khan and this is the world in which I revolve.
Again, my postings are varied and spaced but here goes.
It's been a often hectic few weeks though this last week has been one of the most fulfilling weeks of my life for many many reasons. I found out my sister in law will finally be joining us here in Canada probably at the end of the summer when my mother comes back from a two month stay in Bangladesh. Two months of my mother overseas equals to two months of crazy crazy fun at Issa's place :) Hotel Khan might be back open for the season! Book reservations for my place while you can because space is limited. LOL. My sister in law is really cool and I can't wait for her to come over which should hopefully make my brother a bit more mellower than he has been in recent months which is always a good thing.
I found out i might be in line for a promotion at work to head up one of the departments on the third floor. However, the big drawback is that i found out the other candidate for the job is a friend of mine from the first floor named Chelsea. Well, we'll see how things go when my boss comes back from his vacation next week. Plus my interview with him should be next week before he makes a decision. Personally i hope she gets it because i know she will do a good job but i feel i deserve it too just because of my few years of dedicated service there. So we'll see how things go.
Also finally, finally after all these years of hints and teasers, the Star Wars sextology is finally over with the release of the film "Star Wars episode III: Revenge of the Sith". It was well worth the wait. I was sort of disappointed with the last two prequels though I did enjoy Episode II quite a bit in terms of entertainment factor but in terms of overall advancement of the story, both of hte prequels were below expectations. So as a result, i went into Episode III with a mild bit of trepidation but still hoping for the best thing. I wasn't disappointed. The movie unfolds beautifully even though most Star Wars fans like myself already know what happens. Overall i have to say it's one of the best of the six movies for sure. In terms of overall darkness of the story, it's on par with the Empire Strikes back as relentlessly dark. The violence in this movie is sort of video game like violence but it's all done nicely. The final half hour of the movie is the great payoff in the film with the much hyped Anakin Skywalker vs. Obi Wan Kenobi duel on the volcano planet. The scene kinda reminded me in a way of an anime action sequence in the way it was filmed and executed which i thought was cool to see. The surprise fights that I really liked were the Emperor vs Yoda fight which is really cool. Yoda is one of the best supporting characters in the history of film. The Mace Windu vs. Emperor fight is a key scene in the film. The ending of the film is very bittersweet and leads into Episode IV (the original Star Wars film) beautifully with the last shot of the film echoing a scene from the early moments of Episode IV. As a star wars geek, i was highly satisfied and I'm glad it's doing very well in its opening weekend. I'm glad that George Lucas finally took more care and precision with the story to have a good payoff and to wrap up the saga nicely. The only thing i was disappointed with was some of the dialogue which wasn't as bad as some of the stuff in the previous prequels but still kinda weak. Ahh well, nothing another "special edition'' of the movie can't take care of :) Recommended.
As far as how personal life has been, well i've toned back my going out a bit more recently just because I've been studying more seriously for the LSATs in October and besides the summer is practically here!
As far as dating life goes right now, it's been good because i've been going out on more dates with women than I have been in previous years and my self-confidence is going up even in situations where the outcome hasn't been to my advantage. One thing that i've learned in the last few months is that patience and understanding is definitely one thing you need to possess even if your date sometimes does really really boneheaded things to piss you off. I've been learning with leaps and bounds the intricacies of final barrier in understanding adulthood and I'm winning! The last few weeks have shown me the best and worst sides of humanity and one thing i've learned, to quote 80s songstress Pat Benatar, is that "love is a battlefield". It so is but the choice is yours to advance within the ranks of being a lowly grunt who is frustrated to being a five-star general who is command of the situation. While i'm no longer a grunt and not quite a general yet, i'm advancing through the ranks
and control and confidence is the key.
That is all I have to say.
And with that, here are some music recommendations. Take Care everyone!!!

Music Recommendations:
Maximo Park's debut album "A Certain Trigger" is excellent. British indie rock in the athemic vein of Bloc Party and the Libertines but with its own distinct voice. The melodies and hooks are tight and the lyrics are often very very good.! I hear they are coming to Montreal on the 13th of June. Anyone want to go see them? Recommended songs : "Apply some pressure", "the Coast is always changing" "I want you to stay".

The Bravery's debut album is also very good. It's more along the lines of a new Wave revival that echoes older 80s music like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode. Most songs are good but the lyrics when looking on closer inspection are kind of too simple. Melodies are for the most part really good. Another strong album.

Aimee Mann's new album "The Forgotten Arm" is good. I've liked Aimee Mann since I discovered her music when she did the soundtrack to the film Magnolia which fit in very very well with the concept of the movie. She has a such a distinct lovely voice along with strong lyrics and hooks to keep you entertained and tapping your toes. The opening track on the album "Dear John" is my favorite for some reason but the whole album is really good.

The Thirteen Senses album "The Invitation" is pretty good. They are considered sort of the new up and coming "new Radiohead or coldplay". It remains to be seen if they can pull it off after all this is only their first album but it's not a bad debut for sure. Not all songs on the album are keepers though.
