I have been on hiatus for a while from the blogging world. By hiatus, I mean I haven't logged into this website for three years. A lot has changed in three years, and I find so have my priorities and interests.
A quick update on my life:
1. I have a new niece named Rachel (Greg's first child). She is a year and a half old, very smart (and fun because she absorbs EVERYTHING she learns), and is adorable. Greg and Jen have another child on the way and will be welcomed into the world the last week of August.
2. I graduated from college last year, found a job, and moved to Portland. My first job out of college was a horrible fit for me, strategically, socially, and career-wise, so I quickly decided to job hunt after being there for one month. By month three, I found a new career path, and for seven months now I have been relatively happy with my choice.
3. Now I live in Portland and work at a management consulting and certified public accounting firm downtown. My commute is 10 minutes in heavy traffic--5 when there is no one on the road. My official job title is "Assistant Technical Proposal Writer" and I work 45 hours a week. My job title means nothing to most people, however, the short of it is that I write business proposals on behalf of our firm to get the consultants in our IT and management consulting practice work. It is an ambiguous job most days, and I have my share of frustrations at times, but I am happy overall and each day is different than the last. What I really like about my job is the potential for learning new things and moving into new roles.
4. I recently joined an adult kickball league. I went to my first game last week--it was a lot of fun and I had the opportunity to get exercise, meet new people, and release some of my competitive energy. Even though the kickball league is meant to be anything but competitive, I may take the game a little too serious. I guess that is a Type A personality for you.
5. I have a boyfriend named Rich, who I have been dating for a year and a half now. We get along great, go on random adventures together (like to the art gallery, Red Sox games, and road trips up the coast of Maine), and he's my best friend.
Other than that, I have simply been living life one day at a time. I apologize I haven't made this entry more enthralling, but I put in a long workweek, and the last thing I feel like doing is sitting in front of a computer.
Best,
Katie
