I have been on a website called okcupid for quite a while now. It's not bad, easy to talk to people, and I had met several women off of it. Unfortunately, most of them were pretty weird, whcih can't be surprising considering it's an internet dating site that is free. Well, on Saturday, March 22nd, which was the day before Easter, I was on the computer after work and I saw Nicole's profile. She had just created it the day before. She looked nice, so I sent her a message, and she answered back, and we started chatting on the lame im system of okcupid, until about 45 minutes later, when we moved over to msn. All total we chatted for close to an hour and a half, mostly about work stuff, (She works in produce at Fry's, which is Bashas' biggest competiter besides Wal-Mart) sports, (she likes the D-Backs and Suns, and is trying to start watching football) and music (big country fan, especially Big and Rich.) I could tell right away she was quite a sarcastic girl, something which I like. Overall it was a very good first converation.
The next day was Easter, and I spent most of it at Chuck and Billie's place, having a good time with Mike, Carrie and the gang. I got home around 9:15, and saw Nicole was on, and we chatted for an hour and a half before we both had to get to bed for early work the next day. It was then I learned she was also from South Dakota, living in Spearfish until she was 15. We talked more about work, and we had the following conversation:
Tyler: you know if we ever got married we wouldnt have a husband and wife side for each...it would be bashas and frys :P
Nicole: That's funny. And everyone can wear their uniforms and name tags so you know who they are. ;)
Tyler: hahaha indeed
Tyler: now who would make the cake...
Nicole: Hmmm. I'm just gonna put my vote in right now. Not Frys
Tyler: ok bashas for the cake, frys for the flowers
Nicole: That works. I got an in with the floral lady.
Tyler: im sure you do
Nicole: Question for you...
Tyler: ok
Nicole: Is it strange that we just had that conversation?
Tyler: i dont think so lol
Tyler: do you?
Nicole: I didn't either, but I thought I would check anyway.
Tyler: ok good deal
Nicole: It's refreshing that someone else thinks like I do.
Tyler: good good :)
There was more chit-chat about family (she lives with her parents and 2 sisters still) and other things before we finally both went to bed.
The next day was Monday the 24th. We started chatting online at about 3 after we had both gotten home from work. We chatted online for an hour and a half until the Suns game started. At that time I decided, what the heck, I'll ask for her if she wants to talk on the phone sometime, and she said ok, and I suggested how about I call at halftime of the game, she said sure. So, I called her, and we ended up talking for 2 1/2 hours. Not bad for a woman who pretty much hates talking on the phone. Near the end of the conversation, I asked her if she wanted to do something sometime, and she said sure. She said she was supposed to go to the Renaissance Festival with a friend but she was almost certain she would cancel like she always does, so I said if she does that I would go with her, and she said that sounded good. So we hung up, saying I would call her the next day.
Well, I tried calling the next 2 days and there was no answer. This is when I learned she gets awful cell phone reception where she lives, which is wayyy north Apache Junction by the mining camp restaraunt. I then sent her an e-mail Wednesday night to see if we were on for Saturday and she said yes, but said it would be ok if we did something else in case I didn't wanna go to the festival cause she did not want me to be bored. I said I wanted to go cause I had never been there.
Friday I called herafter the baseball game I helped work to make sure everything was still a go, and to decide where to meet and what time. I did not think the phone call went well at all. It seemed ackward, and after we decided 2:30 at Fry's, we really didn;t say anything else. I figured the date/afternoon/whatever wouldn't go well from that call, but then again, she did hate thep hone, and maybe she was nervous. I certainly did not have high expectations, despite all the conversations we had had those 3 days from SAT - MON.......
