First week in my new house

Mar 02, 2008 21:50

I moved in Saturday, Feb. 23rd. Woke up at 4:30 after sleeping for 10 hours. Went to work and ordered, then packed most of the rest of my small stuff into my car, including my computer. Mike got to my apartment around 9:30ish and we got his dad's trailor and loaded all my big stuff into it. The cats knew pretty much what was going on, they all hid under the kitchen sink while we practically emptied the place. Got everything over to and into my house by around 12:30 or so. Then we went to lunch at Dirtwater Springs, this little place in AJ that was less than impressive. Then hung out at Mike's parent's place. HIs mom Billie wanted to see my place so we went over there. She was impressed with it. Afterwards we went back to Mike's place and met Carrie and had dinner at Del Taco, then played Uno, then I went back to my apartment for the absolute worst part of the whole moving experience...the cats. They basically freaked. Thankfully Mike let me borrow his cat carrier. Snickers didnt mind going into my carrier at all. Gizmo refused to be put into either one, so he had to sit in the car loose. Xena was a nightmare. I chased her all over the apartment while she hissed at me when I tried to pick her upbefore finally cornering her in the bedroom closet, luring her with food and then finally forcing her inyo the other cat carrier. Then it was 20 minutes driving to my house listening to tham howl. I got them home and into the house, and Gizmo was the only one who did any exploring for the first 2 days, while the other 2 hid. Thankfully, they are back to normal now.

Sunday I had brunch at this little italian deli at the major intersection by my house. In this plaza they have that, a chinese place, and a pizza place. I did all my laundry and watched the Suns get spanked by Detroit. Then went to start cleaning my apartment up, which consisted of getting most of the weeds out of the little back yard, then vacuuming up the carpet. Then BIllie wanted to show me some stuff her sister offered me for my house. I got a picture, some towels and lawn chairs, some other stuff, plus a nice coffee table. I havent moved the big things over here yet, maybe tomorrow.

Monday it was back to work and the hell 1/2 gallons ad. At least I had no load so it wasnt a horrid day. The drive to work was about 25 minutes because it was down to one lane due to them re-paving and striping Ironwood Rd. Still not bad. After work I went to Home Depot and got some weed spraying supplies and sprayed the front yard. Then the cable guys came to hook up my cable right, since whoever came Friday did not. One of them had a T-Mobile cell phone like mine, and like mine, it got crappy reception out here. Of course the other guy, who got good reception, had Verizon. I have this bad feeling I am going to be stuck going back to them. I ended up having dinner from the chinese place, beef with snow peas. I will have to try something different the next time. Otherwise it was a rather boring evening.

Tuesday I was 10 minutes late to work. The entire intersection of Ironwood and Ocotillo was blocked off. I had to go back through the community, then 2 miles south, then 4 miles west, then back 13 miles north and 3 miles east to get to work. I'm surprised I was only 10 minutes late. Work itself sucked. Afterwards I packed up a few more things from my apartment, had dinner at McDonalds, and then went to the school for our first home boy's volleyball game of the year, against the defending state champions, Desert Vista. JV won pretty easily. Varsity lost in 4 games. This was with DV not having their best player, who is maybe the best player in the state, Michael Proctor, because he was still playing basketball. Our team is not bad, we have 2 very good players...the rest, eh. We'll see whan happens. After the game I went ot Dennis's place to watch the Suns game and hang out. Then came home and crashed.

Wednesday I was off. I got up around 9 and went to my apartment to do the major cleaning. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Worst part was the bath tub. I sprayed down the oven to do the next day. After 4 hours there cleaning, I went to IHOP to eat, then to Target to buy some thermometers. Came home and once again watched the Suns get smoked, by the Hornets. I'm starting to wonder about the whole Shaq trade now...

Thursday work was not bad because the ad was easier to maintain. Still, a big load, especially the ice cream. And the milk truck came at 7:45, very early, so I didnt even finish breaking down the dairy load until after lunch, at around 10:15. It sucked. After work I went back to the apartment and cleaned out the oven, then took everything else out except for the tapestry of the deer drinking from the pond that was on the living room wall, because I didnt have a hammer to pry it off. We ended up having a baseball game that day so I went to that and helped with spotting and the music. Mr. Saunders announces the baseball games. We won in 8 innings against Cibola, 8-7. WE have a pretty good player that might get drafted by the pros, his name is Dean Espy, he is our shortstop. Then I went over to Mike and Carrie's place and we again went and got food at Del Taco. Then came home and went to bed, after watching ASU basketball lose to UCLA.

Friday was a slow day at work. No load, but one of the cashiers, Angie, didnt show up cause she had hurt her elbow. So, I got to stay on the register almost all day...well, from 10-2 anyways. And of course before that I was being lazy because I didnt have a load. Afterwards I went to my apartment...with a hammer from work...for the last time to get my thing and turn in my keys. It was really weird being in there all empty after living there for almost 9 years. Yes, it was sad leaving the last time, even though the place was quite annoying in so many ways. I ate at Jack in the Box and then went home. I watched the high school basketball championships, which the girls was won by Highland, and the boys by Desert Vista.

Saturday work went ok. The warehouse is pissing me off by continuing to send the same 15 cases of ice creamthat I do not need, 3 times now. It's probably discontinued shit they are trying to get rid of, but jesus, enough already! I'm running out of room to put the crap. I bought seom stuff after work because Dennis and Vince ended up coming over to see my house and watch the Suns game. It was fun except for once again, the Suns losing, this time to the 76ers. Afterwards we went to the San Tan Flats bar here in Queen Creek, which is mostly outdoors. Not a bad place, pretty much a country place. Got home around 1 AM and crashed.

Today I slept in until 1. Went and visited a friend near Tempe, then ate at IHOP and came home. Now I am doing laundry and having an interesting conversation with this woman who lives fairly close to me now. Seems very nice. Her name is Colette. Don;t think anything is happening with Jessica and her 3 kids. She's REALLY far away now anyways. So we'll see what happens with this new woman. She is 21 with no kids and wants to be a dental assistant type person.

Ok I think that was a long enough entry...
