You’ve done so many things *right* in this I can’t even being to explain, but I’ll try!

“exactly how long it will take Cam to pull his sidearm in any situation, understands when the unique perspectives that Vala and Teal’c bring to hostile situations will prove valuable, can map Daniel’s thoughts in the way he furrows his brow.”
This was a great example of how you show, not tell. Sam knows these people, every nuance, and it makes her having to choose whether to be the one to send them off on missions or not clearly understandably difficult. So many moments in this I really got it, without being told what I was supposed to take away from it. Brilliant writing.

“Next problem to solve: not freaking out at every major conversation.”
And many others describe this relationship between these two flawed people beautifully. Take it from someone who met the love of my life late, not at like 22 years old, it’s tough. You’re both so intrenched in ways, routines, and yes, used to sleeping alone in bed, that little things are a struggle in ways they aren’t likely to be for others. You’ve shown such a realistic perspective and yet, you also get that they love each other despite the faults and are always willing to *try* to work around it. Even if they suck at it. It *felt* more Sam and Jack than almost anything I’ve ever read. Very nice job.

Thank you for your hard work on this :)

Um, wow! Thank you! I think that is possibly one of the highest compliments you could pay, because I set out to write this story in a way that would really capture these characters realistically, that would acknowledge their history and patterns and habits without saying that those things would negate the relationship they have. So I'm glad that succeeded for you!

And yes, as a writer I always worry that I'm telling the reader what to think--and there are certainly points throughout this story where I wonder, "But will they get what I'm trying to say?!" I'm glad you were able to see the nuance without that--whew!

All this to say thank you for commenting and I'm so glad you liked it! :)

Thank you! I've written two other SG-1 stories, Cultural Drift, which is about Daniel in S9, and Supervenient, which is Sam in the aftermath of Jolinar. Hopefully there will be more to come one of these days! :)
