After work one day

Jun 02, 2008 17:05

Its Monday after work.  I don't have any plans other than get dinner tonight sometime.  Post?  Why not.

I guess the big news is that Mom and Dad are THIS bloody close to closing the deal on a parcel of land about 40 acres large in a place called Stiligman, AZ.  (I think that's how its spelled)  Yeah.  They're finally doing it.  We're stoked.  None more so than Dad.

This leads me to a small part of what I did yesterday.  Mom wants me to sell her bike.  That should basically pay for the 5th wheel that we're going to purchase from Sandy (Dear good family friend up in Kingman).  So I gotta get Mom's bike running.  The battery is dead (again, I swear that bloody bike...)  There's no plug in my garage, but there is a single light bulb.  So I jerry rig my very own electrical fire hazard and turned that single light socket into 3, count em, 3 electrical outlets.  1 extension cord later and Mom's bike battery is on the charge.  Done.

Rode my bicycle to work and worked out sunday night.  I think that riding my push bike to work could very well become a regular occurance.  Yay!

And onto the exciting stuff.  Crave (College aged service at church)   was Thursday night as usual.  I end up seeing pastor Brad sitting with his elbows on his knees and his head down and I feel like I should go and lay a hand on him.... like... its okay man.  So I do.  I end up being invited to the BBQ thing that's happening the following afternoon.  I pull a few strings and a rabbit out of my hat and end up being able to get off at 3PM... just in time to make it to the BBQ at 3:30.  Awesome.  Go there, eat a weiner, play Ultimate Frisbee for like 3 1/2 hours and call it a day.  Was super cool.  Another guy that's involved with Crave came up to me and introduced himself.  Jimbo I believe.  Yay.  Oh yeah, I also signed up for a small group that happens on Tuesday nights at 7:30.  I'm... stoked to say the least.

I'm finding out that keeping my word on challenges is more... challenging than I ever thought.  Current challenge: spending 30 minutes a day w/ God.  Its going.... so-so so far.  Darn it.

More persuasion from Sunday's service.  It was good stuff.  All I can remember right now off the top of my head is...

Show me where you spend your time and I'll show you what you love.

Love is not a feeling, its an act.  If it was a feeling, God wouldn't have commanded us to love one another because you can't make someone feel a certain way.

I made up for my lack of spending money this weekend.  Spent close to 100 bucks on misclaneous stuff.  Bought some MORE headphones... hopefully these won't fall out when I'm on the treadmill.  After listening to them, I can now say with confidence that Phillips sound equipment is far superior to Sony stuff.  Sony is still okay, Phillips has superb sound.

And I think that's about it.  I gotta motivate myself to get my can to the gym.  I realized on Friday that my can is way out of shape.  Sheesh.  I haven't sucked air like that in a long time.  Not to mention that everything from the hips down is STILL sore.  I gotta get back on it.
