Title: Last Dance
Words: 478

Warnings: none

Figures danced in the dark, away from the crowded party that was taking place on the other side of the house. Her green dress swirled around his legs as they swayed to the soft music that came from her engagement party. His arms were surrounding her body in a protective manner, refusing to let her go. Her thin arms clung to his neck as her hands fisted in his turquoise hair. His grey eyes were burning into her hazel ones, casting looks full of moot promises that both know would never be fulfilled.

"Don't marry him," he blurted in a hushed tone.

She felt her skin boiling and her head spinning. The feelings of happiness and anger she felt were so alike that they confused her to no end. Frustrated tears glazed her eyes. "Too late," she murmured with a small shrug as they still moved in compass to the soothing music.

"No it's not. This is not your wedding. You can still break it off and I--"

"And you? What about my cousin? Vic-" she shook her head as tears spilled from her eyes. "I -we- can't. So many people would get hurt." Contrary to her words, her body acted of its own accord as she got closer to him. So close that every inch of her body was covered by his. Her heart started racing as her skin tingled all over, welcoming the comfort his heat offered.

"I'm not marrying Victoire," he said firmly, pressing his lips against her forehead. "Marrying her when I dream every night of someone else? I won't do that to her."

Teddy started brushing his lips over her face; softly, enticingly... Her breath caught in her lungs in anticipation. Soft lips travelled across her cheeks, mere inches away from her mouth. Just then she noticed they had stopped moving. His warm breath hitting the corner of her mouth was more than she could take. She yearned for him to kiss her but at the same time, Lily knew it was wrong.

"I won't move another inch. It's your decision," he whispered looking at her through his half-closed eyes.

Lily didn't know what to do. A fierce battle was taking place in her mind. Her instincts were as strong as what she knew was the right thing to do. She licked her lips, closing her eyes in the process; letting his sweet breath intoxicate her heart for the last time.

"Goodbye, Teddy," she whispered, kissing him chastely on the corner of his mouth before taking a step back.

The lack of his body surrounding hers made the night colder than it really was. Her eyes were burning with new, unshed tears. Without looking back, Lily returned to the party. To her party. Back to the arms of her fiance, knowing full well that she was leaving her heart with someone else.

Title: Our Song
Words: 415
Rating: PG
Warnings: none

The house is quiet, the stillness only broken by the piano and the steady sound of rain as it drums against the window panes. Lily’s fingers fly nimbly over the keys, her pale skin a stark contrast to its dark wood. In the distance thunder sounds and Lily jumps at the unexpected noise, her fingers missing a key; Teddy chuckles against her hair.

“Easy, love.” Teddy’s voice vibrates low and deep in her ear. His hands move to curl over the top of Lily’s, placing them back into the proper position and causing her breath to hitch as he threads his fingers around hers. “Let’s try this again, shall we?”

Their fingers glide over the instrument as one, the keys moving heavily under their combined touch. The sound is slow and erratic, but Lily doesn’t mind about the noise. She is too busy focusing on Teddy to pay much attention to the notes. She can feel his breath as it brushes over the tip of her ear, his leg pressed soundly next to hers and his gentle touch as he slowly guides her hand.

It’s a combination of all three of them; the rain, the music and his nearness that cause Lily’s hands to still as she suddenly moves, twisting her body around to face him. Teddy’s eyes are shadowed and melancholy but his gaze shifts into something soft as it meets hers. His hands still as well and for a moment, the only noise that Lily can hear over the drumming of her heartbeat is the fading echo of the keys and the soft hammer of the rain and the creak of the old bench as Teddy shifts and settles his mouth soundly over hers. Lily gaps, her breath hitching in her throat as he sinks into her, tongue slipping gently between her lips. Lily wants to touch him but she can’t, her hand is still pressed against the piano keys by his.

It feels as though everything around them has stopped and it’s just the two of them, frozen in time. The kiss is too brief, too quick and Teddy’s the first to pull back, slowly and reluctantly. For a moment after Lily opens her eyes she is worried by what she will see on him, but he smiles and the lightness that fills his face chases any of her fears away. His hand tightens over hers and Lily smiles and leans her head against his chest, ready to begin their song again.

Title: The Man of Her Dreams
Words: 450
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None.

For all her life Lily Potter had craved to hear Teddy Lupin say those two words, and now, as she entered the flat they shared for almost half a year, the anticipation that “Marry me” wasn’t that unreachable anymore rose to an almost unbearable pitch.

Wide-eyed Lily took in the sight of the room, bathed in the light of uncountable floating candles. “Oh, Teddy,” sighed Lily as her eyes stopped at the flower-covered table with the man of her dreams behind it. “This is so beautiful! What have I done to deserve this?”

Teddy rose with a smile that held a hint of secrecy. Lily bit her lower lip in excitement and wanted to fold her hands, but Teddy reached for her fingers before she could do so. A huge smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as Teddy moved to kneel in front of her.

“You make me the happiest man in the world. You deserve far more than candles and flowers,” Teddy said and Lily couldn’t stop giggling like a shy schoolgirl at his words. She couldn’t suppress the weird, high-pitched noises any longer when Teddy pulled out a small box lined in red velvet. “You deserve that I try my whole life to make you as happy. Marry me, Lily.”

Lily squeaked, “Yes!” She didn’t even give Teddy time to put the ring on her finger and pulled him up, kissing him passionately on the mouth. Teddy’s arms wrapped tightly around her waist, pulling her close against his chest, and Lily let herself indulge by his mouth.

It was perfect, perfectly perfect, if she just knew why Teddy was shaking her so roughly…

“Lily? Hey, Lily!”

She opened her eyes and screamed because James’s face was far too close. The Hogwarts Express rattled underneath her seat as she pulled her legs up, moving away from her big brother.

“Are you completely mental?” Lily snapped and reddened underneath James’s dirty smirk, which he then shared with their cousin Louis. “What are you doing in my compartment anyway?”

“Just telling you that you were snogging your elbow,” James chuckled. Louis next to him crossed his arms, gifting Lily a sceptically raised eyebrow.

“A-Anything else?” Lily’s cheeks burned, but she held eye-contact with Victoire’s brother.

“Nothing I’d tell my sister,” Louis said and turned to leave, a madly laughing James right behind him.

Lily whined and hung her head in shame. But the embarrassment wasn’t enough to keep Lily from reaching into her pocket, pulling out the photo of Teddy she had carried around for years.

“Oh, Teddy…” Longingly, she traced the features of the man of her dreams. “I can’t wait for the day when you’ll be mine…”

Title: An Inquisitive Mind
Words:125
Rating: PG
Warnings: Very slight mention of sex.

No. This was not happening. Lily had not just asked him that. Of all the questions he had anticipated when she said she wanted to ask something important, that honestly had been the last thing on his mind. She was ten for Merlin’s sake! Teddy looked around anxiously, hoping that someone, anyone would walk into the Potter’s living room. No such luck. The room which was normally airy felt close and Teddy could feel a drop of sweat trickle down his neck. ‘Um…’ he stalled. He searched for an appropriate answer while carefully avoiding eye-contact. He knew that if he looked up, he would see Lily’s doe-eyes demanding an answer. ‘Teddy’ she repeated a genuine air of innocence in her voice. ‘Do you like sex?’

"Teddy Teddy Teddy Teddy Teddy!" at the sight of Teddy Lupin's ever changing hair Lily Potter darted for the older boy, her arms outstretched as she wrapped her arms around his waist in a tight hug. She had been eagerly awaiting his arrival to Christmas dinner, his grandmother Andromeda moving slowly behind him as the two finally made it to the Burrow. Arthur had decorated it beautiful, lights hanging from every place that he could point his wand, fake snow falling from the ceiling, and the smell of Molly's cooking filling the air around everyone.

Teddy stumbled, Nymphadora's klutziness having warn off on her only child. Andromeda stepped in quickly, her hand resting softly against her grandson's back. She didn't speak, however, instead giving him a slight nod before patting Lily on the head and moving to place the pie that she had her house elf bake in the kitchen before disappearing to sit on her own.

"She sure don't talk much," Lily commented as she she watched on.

"She just likes to keep herself," Teddy replied, a hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck. "Nothin' wrong with that." The older boy turning to look down at Lily, he raised his eyebrow just slightly. "What was it that you wanted to talk about?"

The redheaded girl put her hands behind her back, an innocent look overtaking her as she bounced around on the balls of her face. "Are youuuu and Victoire going to get marrrrried?"

Immediately Teddy's expression faltered, his hair turning a deep red as he missed walking into a wall by but a few inches. "Wh-what?!" he replied exasperated, his eyes the size of saucers.

Lily huffed in reply, her hands coming to rest on her hips. "Well, Daddy says that when two people love each other they get married! So are you and Victoire going to get married?" Her tiny finger poked at the chest of the metamorphagus, her nostrils slightly flared. "I'll pull your hair out if you hurt her, Lupin!"

The color of Teddy's hair spread to his cheeks, the shade rivaling Lily's hair, and he began looking for someone who might be able to help him out of the situation that he had found himself in. "I ... uhhh ... well I mean, it's not like we're even old enough! And there's a lot of planning, and it's best not to plan and just to go with it. And I can't imagine what Grandmother and Molly would think of it. Not to mention Bill and Fleur.... and ... heh..." Again his hand came to rest at the back of his neck, a nervous expression across his face. "Can't we just go get somethin' to eat?"

Wrinkling her nose Lily crossed her arms and turned on heel. "Well I better be the flower girl!"

She was outside. She was outside, right in the backyard, only feet away.

Teddy paced the living room, trying to work up whatever courage he could to open up the door and walk out to her. His palms were sweaty. He kept wiping them on his trousers, but it didn't seem to help. He could practically feel his heart beating out of his chest.

He had been wanting to approach her for hours, if not days, maybe even years. Realizing that he was in love with her wasn't something sudden. It was gradual, something that built with each passing day until it became something so fierce he could physically feel it.

He had been waiting for so long to tell her how he felt, that standing inside while she was out there, so close, seemed absurd to him.

With one more deep breath, he opened the door and walked out into the yard.

Teddy took in the sight of Lily reading in the grass. The sun shone on her hair; her long, lean legs were spread out in front of her. Her feet were bare.

When she looked up at him and smiled, he knew she was worth the wait.

Title:Teddy's Return
Words:391
Rating:PG
Warnings:None really, just some backstory and a bit of implied heartache.

Lily Potter sat on the hillside lost in thought. Today was the day her Teddy was coming home from his trip to Paris. Teddy had fled London after his terrible break up with her cousin Victoire. Victoire had devastated poor Teddy’s heart by marrying another after years of romance with dear Teddy.

Lily thought of how foolish her cousin had been to leave Teddy. She also thought of how she as Teddy’s friend had been there to pick up the many pieces of his heart. For several months now, they had exchanged numerous owls between them. She had felt them growing closer and closer with each letter. Lily knew she was much younger than Teddy but she couldn’t help but anticipate his return with a lover’s delight.

With her anticipation under wraps, she walked down the hill to the burrow. Teddy would be there by now, the others welcoming him home with open arms. She was suddenly afraid, what if Teddy didn’t feel the same as she did. They’d never actually said anything about their feelings, what if she had misread his. With the courage of a true Gryffindor, she found herself entering her grandmother’s kitchen.

It was just as she’d expected, Teddy was there, surrounded by the others. Everyone was clamoring for his attention as he was warmly greeted home like a prodigal son. As the door shut behind her, he turned his green haired head towards the sound. Teddy’s face lit up when he saw her.

“My dearest Lily…” he said as he came across the room to wrap her in his warming embrace.

Lily blushed with embarrassment and pulled away slightly. She felt awkward in front of her whole family. Teddy seemed suddenly nervous, as he looked her over.

“Lily please tell me my return wasn’t wasted.” he whispered at her.

“I don’t understand, I thought you returned to work in George’s new store.”

He looked at her with anticipation evident in his laughing blue eyes.

“Don’t be silly, I only returned because I hoped maybe you cared for me the way I care for you.” he stated bluntly.

Lily smiled brightly up at him, her dreams finally realized.

“Oh Teddy, I love you…” she boldly replied.

With that, Teddy pulled her back into his embrace, this time kissing her right there in front of the entire family.

Teddy smiled watching Lily gut out her lower lip, she even stamped her foot as the train pulled away. He snuck over to her and leaned down to say, "A bit tired being left behind?" She spun aound and gave him the famous Weasley glare.

"It's not fair," That lip stuck out a bit further. "Even Hugo will know what Hogwarts is like now." Lily sighed, "he's gonna owl and gloat...I just know it."

"You get your turn next year. They you'll see Hogwarts is all talk." He chuckled at her rolling eyes.

"Don't even try Teddy. I know exactly what Hogwarts is going to be like," her eyes sparkled and she gazed in the direction the train had taken off. "The adventure'll start the moment I get on the train. And it only gets better." Lily got a dreamy look on her face. "When I get there Hagrid will be waiting and he'll take us to the boats. And oh, Teddy, guilding across the lake will be the best part. I just know Hogwarts will look beautiful all it's lights shining and reflecting off the water's surface..." She deflated and huffed a heavy sigh, "whole 'nother year." Lily tried to smile and said her good-byes before wandering off to find her parents.

Teddy grinned. It'd been over a decade since he'd been a first year but listening to Lily's expectations had him wanting to relive that first journey and look at Hogwarts again.
