I'm dying to get started but I've got questions first.

4. You may only nominate ONE story or piece of art per category.

Gen
Best Individual-Child Art
Best Individual-Adult Art
Best Family Art

Is that 1 category or 3 categories?

13. At the end of the nomination phase, the top SEVEN stories will move on to final voting.

How are the "top" stories determined? And who is "voting" a panel of judges, members of this community or anyone with an LJ?

Also, as a moderator at yay_potterkids, where are the categories for wizards under 11?

That would be 3 categories... probably not the best wording... bascially you can do one nomination per award :)

kids fics/art probably best fall under the gen categories...

The voting will be open to anyone with an active lj account or email address.

Thanks, now I get the ultimate vote. I still don't understand how the top 7 stories in each category will be determined though.

By which stories end up with the most nominations....

That's what I was afraid that you would say. That way, any thing little known has no chance of having the most nomination. So this is just a popularity contest and will heavily favor recent or very well known pieces because they will receive nomms. The same goes for authors who say, "Go here and nominate/vote for me, please."

I am a certified nerd so I've made a habit of checking out these fandom "awards." I've seen the posts from creators like the "vote for me" above and the posts from fans who say, "I didn't have the time to read the stories so I voted for my pairing/friend because I had to support my ship." This is how I know the supposedly multi ship awards where they skew towards certain pairings.

What I feel results in more true results is judging, especially if each category is judged by more than one person and if there are specific criteria for each piece to be rated on. The Hourglass Awards at unknowableroom.org are run that way for instance.http://

*nod* Maybe our next round we can run it differently... do a people's choice type of awards now and a oscar/noble peace prize type of award next time...

I'm still thinking. Dangerous, I know. And pouting too because I'm a bigger collector of art than fic and I vastly prefer gen to p0rn. But I'll just have to try to WOW everyone with the magnificence of my nominees so that gen will gain fans and wee!wizards can get an award too!

Still on the art question - For this stingy little category:

Gen
Best Individual-Child Art
Does this mean a portrait or scene with one figure only?

Best Individual-Adult Art
How are you defining "adult?" Do you mean a nekkid next gen character in a pin-up type pic, wanking, ect or a portrait of a Next Gen character at 30?

Best Family Art
This brings to mind Marta's picture of Harry and Ginny with the kids or Leochi's painting of all of Molly's grandchildren. Right?

So where would this go?

I was thinking of adult AGE, rather than adult nc-17... but i guess it is open for interpreation... i should probably make that clear!

also the link would count as best family art award i would think...
