my spring break was better than yours
March 5th:
left boone at 6am for a whole day of driving! stayed in fort smith arkansas
March 6th:
left fort smith at 7am for another day of driving! finally got to albuquerque
March 7th:
up at 6am, toured the Petroglyphs National Monument, it was spectacular and quite moving, left for Canyon de Chelly, got there, hiked into the canyon and saw White House ruins, super amazing, hiked back and set up tents in our campsite
March 8th:
up at 7am and left for the first day of our 17 mile hike through Canyon del Muerto, sat around the campfire that evening to hear stories from our navajo guides, saw the stars like never before, words can't describe them
March 9th:
up at god only knows what time but it was early for day 2 of the 17 mile hike, got lunch at Antelope House, mutton stew and fried bread, it was phenomenal, hiked up a steep ass cliff, loaded vans and headed for gallup
March 10th:
up at 7:45am, hooray we got to sleep in (yes, it's sad that that was sleeping in) off to zuni, heard alex talk for a while about zuni traditions and the like, he's a famous painter, shopped at turquoise village and got some kickass jewelry, back to gallup and had the evening to relax and by relax i mean drink
March 11th:
up at 7am, head to Chaco Canyon, set up tents, tour of Pueblo Bonito and Chetro Ketl, kickass ruins, back to the campsite for a bonfire and group social, followed by a wicked night of drinking, a most excellent day indeed
March 12th:
up at 7am (still a little drunk), 5 mile hike to Pueblo Alto, not fun when you're hungover, but had some pretty sweet scenery, drive to farmington (nap time!), dinner and tour of Three Rivers Brewery
March 13th:
up at 6:30am, off to Mesa Verde, got to climb in a kiva, pretty sweet, off to durango, spent time downtown, fell in love with downtown durango, off to santa fe
March 14th:
up at 8am (hooray we got to sleep in!), went to Bandelier which was super cool, drove to downtown santa fe to shop and eat dinner and do whatever, another night of drinking
March 15th:
left at 6am for a whole day of driving! stayed in fort smith arkansas again
March 16th:
up at 3am, left shortly after for last day of driving! arrived in boone at 7pm, very sad....very very very sad i miss the southwest already and i especially miss everyone on that trip
