I am thinking about getting a iPod Mini, you know those old ones, and modding it. First replacing the Microdrive with a 8gb or 16gb CF card. Then anodizing the Aluminum to either an original color or a design of some type. Neither mod is difficult, and the best part about the CF card is that as memory prices drop I can take the old card and use it in my DSLR, and plop a new car in the mini up to 128gb.
I need a way to make the 12-15 volts @ 2+ amps that I need to form the Aluminum Oxide, that is really the only hard part.
Anyone got a nice cheap way for me to do that? I am electricly retarded.
Everything else I can get my hands on, like the dye and the sulfuric acid. iPod Mini's seem to be selling for about 100$ in good shape these days, and CF cards are about 100$ for 8GB, so I could get this project completed for under 250$, which sounds like a winner to me.
