Beer Cheer 24: Avery's White Rascal

Sep 03, 2010 01:36

Belgian-style White Ales should be mellow and sweet. Avery's devilish brew does not disappoint. Combining its hearty 5.6% C2H5OH/Vol. with mellow and pleasant flavor, this is a great beer to sip with good friends after dinner (remember - less than good friends ought get cheap Bud Light). The beer initiates with an enticing floral scent that fades into sustained tones of banana and lavender. I find this quality beer provides a comforting tropical vibe, though such may be part of my own bias (since I dwell in the tropics!).

Sipping on White Rascal provides an ultimately fleeting sequence of flavors. Tart, sharp, and tangy - like a fresh Florida Orange at first - the flavors rapidly fade into a deep blackberry sense. These then quietly fold into subtle notes of fried plantains and rich banana breads.

Avery's White Rascal is ultimately a dessert beer. But of course, dessert is as one shall suggest. Enjoy. Recommended.
