I made a kiwi & ginger cordial a while back which was lovely. So, tonight I took three of the ubiquitous kiwis and made cordial again, though this time I put in 1/2 and orange's zest instead of lemon. No lemons in the house ( Read more... )

Oh this sounds very interesting. I have not gotten into making cordials, yet. Currently have beer and mead as the projects, but I expect cordials to follow soon.

Found you on friends-friends and have seen you on food-porn. Hope you don't mind me friending you. I look forward to hearing how this turns out.

Sure, that's fine :) Welcome!

I used to homebrew, and keep meaning to order supplies.... I have the carboys, I just cannot get off my ass and get some damn yeast.

Cordials are easy peasy :) Way easier than beer or mead, actually, and those aren't too hard either!

I realized just now that I forgot a 1/2 cup of vodka, so I've got to add that sucker in...

The saffron sounds intriguing . . . I have a fantasy of one day having a field of saffron crocus blooming just beyond my door. I just need a house with some acerage first . . .

You'll need a LOT of saffron bulbs and acerage to get more than one meal's worth of saffron! @.@

Still, one meal's worth would be lovely. :) I got an ounce jar at Costco of all places for $27 - cheap for saffron. So now I get to experiment.

I did a bit of reasearch and found a couple of mentions of saffron cordials from the Middle Ages. Almost always paired with cardomom, so.........

I'd love to do a rose cordial. And a lavender. And, and, and!
