The reading trend continues! I've been really bumpin' 'em out of the way lately!
OK:
#32, The Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula LeGuin. Loved this! People of different colors, men and women who were whole people, while still having dragons. Just wonderful. Ursula, I should have never doubted you. I'll need to get the 4th one seperately.
#33, The Last Hot Time by John M. Ford. I had never read him before, see my reluctance about fantasy. At the beginning I thought, "This is a cute and fun book. Detective noir + Elves. I like it." At the end of the book I said, "Whoa. That was fricking *wonderful*. A meditation on power and it's uses - and betrayals. And the toll it can take, or the stregnth it can bestow. Wow!"
#34, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. Before reading it, I couldn't remember if I'd read it before. Now I remember I have read it before. Think: Arthur Dent Goes Underground. I always rather liked Arthur, so it's no problem here. Like most of Gaimans' work, enjoyable. Took me the same amount of time as Fragile Things but I found it to be more satisfying. Still not as good as American Gods, but not everything can be perfect :) Very good, and I'll probably read it again. A fine romp. It kind of reminds me of my time living in New Orleans.
I'm looking at my stack and don't see anything I haven't read. Uh oh. Do I go to the Strand today, or to Trader Joe's for milk & coffee?!
