Really?!

The Dems have control of the House? Really?

And South Dakota voted down the Abortion Ban?!

And Deval Patrick won Gov. in MA? BTW: Whatta HOTTIE! There are some *seriously* hot black Dems this year. WHOA. *fans self*

And we're running neck and neck for the Senate?

We have the first female speaker of the House in the HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY?!

Ultimately, I don't want any one party in control -- not even my own party (Greens, btw). I really don't. We have all seen what happens when that is the case. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

When there is a diversity of voices in our government, we are forced to work together, to talk things over, to make compromises on *all* sides, and to make consensus.

We are a big country. There are 300 Million of us. No party can represent all of us. And yet, here we are, all together.

The pendulum swings. I'm glad it did not reach the worst places I thought it would go. For the first time in 6 years, I have some hope.

Finally, I have some hope.

I hope that hope comes to full fruition. I'd like to be able to say again that we are the country that would never torture, that treats our poorest citizens with respect, that helps the helpless. I want our education standards to be unpolluted by religion, I want all of us to be equal across the board - no matter what our race, sex, creed, religion OR sexual orientation. I want clean air and water for ALL of us.

There's more that I hope for. But for now, I'll be happy that some serious assholes (Santorum, I'm looking at you here) are out of office.

I love my country. I always have. Today, I am proud of it as well.
