i never ask for money...
but it's not for me.
my sister, Donna, lives in Harvey, La with my nephew. Harvey is about 8 miles outside of NOLA, and is destroyed. she has lost everything.
she's alive, as is my nephew. they stayed with my niece in San Antonio, and she has spoken with the chaplain at the local naval base, and is getting help finding work until/if the crisis passes.
right now the plan is to make sure that Dominick (my nephew) goes to a community college this semester, and that she finds a way to bring in some money.
i offered her what little i have, and she refused me saying that i was "just starting out". she asked me for art instead, as she has nothing. i will send her art, but i thought, perhaps i would see if people would like to donate to a small fund for her and my nephew as they start over again.
there's a lot of .... difficult family relations that i'd rather not go into in a public post -- but i will say this: that my mom (who was her step-mother 30 years ago) and myself, have apparently been the only ones to offer financial help. her daughter is doing everything she can, the naval chaplain is taking her food shopping tomorrow, she is staying with a friend of her daughters....
but she has nothing. no home. her cat is most likely dead and gone. nothing. no clothes, no home to return to... no pictures, no nothing.
if you would prefer to give money to an individual family rather than an organization, this is a good opportunity to do that.
also, if you could pass along my Beetle Ad, i'd appreciate it. that way i could send her a percentage off the sale. i'd like to be able to do that for her -- but right now i don't even have a savings account.
i'm going to ask that if you disapprove of this request, that you keep it to yourself. you are free to donate here or anywhere else. for me, my donations are going to my blood because that's where i need them to be.
