for the love of Prunus

Aug 16, 2005 13:08

i love peaches and plums, all the Prunus family actually.

this morning i had a plum that was *this close* to being overripe, mixed in with my homemade granola and plain yogurt. i almost died from the deliciousness.

there's a peach waiting for me. i had my lunch, and am comfortably full. i am waiting to eat the peach, and while i wait, it sends out little wafts of deliscious smells over to me. it is sitting perhaps 4 feet away, and yet i can smell it. farther from my colleague, and she says she can smell it too.

the peach is large -- about the size of softball -- and heavy with juice.

the waiting is fun. because it lasts longer, with the scent, tempting me.

one of the things i love so very much about Prunus, is the way the fruit retains the scent of the flower in a way that others do not. delicate, pollen, but brought through into something else. yes, please.
