PSA: A Cat Needs a Home

Mar 26, 2009 11:49

From my friend, bklyndirt:

We've had great success so far! One cat, Simon, is in his new home happily nuzzling and bonding with his new family.

Now we need a home for Mona.

She is a beautiful, sweet-natured tortiseshell cat. If she were human she'd be a 50's pinup model, a really gentle one who has never uses her claws or her teeth. She's healthy, 10 yrs old, and remarkably playful - I often find her knocking a toy down our long slippery hallway. She has always been a healthy cat

Sadly for her she lives in a loveless home. It's not that we don't love her, it's that my allergies have grown so bad that I can't actually touch her. Last night we had friends over for dinner who happily lavished her with petting. Even though I was sitting in the rocking chair away from them, just having her pet in the same room was enough to start an allergy attack.

We've tried almost everything, including leather furniture, no rugs, and regular baths for the cat, and this allergy just keeps getting worse.

What we really need to do is find her a new home. Preferably one in which she is the only cat. It's not that she can't get along with others, it's that she's had to share her home with other attention grabbing creatures all her life, and really, she would love best to be the queen of someone's lap.

A shelter is not an option, she's been too much a part of our family for us to place her anywhere but a loving home. So if you, or anyone you know who is within 300 miles NYC, wants a wonderful lap cat, please let me know. We'll deliver her to you, with all the things one might need to start a home for a cat (litter, litter box, food, bowls, basket, toys, brushes, medical records, Frontline if you plan to let her go outside, and a gift certificate to your pet store of choice).

Please pass this on. She's too wonderful a cat to keep living in a family that constantly has to reject her.

I've known Mona for most of these 10 years. She's awfully sweet and gentle, very pretty, and is happy as either an indoor only, or an indoor/outdoor cat. She's very flexible!

Please help place her. Thanks!

N.
