He was waiting at the bus depot when I arrived here back in the beginning of May. He stood, visibly excited, next to the Lincoln Continental his mother handed down to him when her sisters bought her a new Explorer. I had been changing bus after bus all night and most of the previous afternoon, I was tired and slightly miserable from allergies which ( Read more... )

At least you can argue decently. I can't. I always end up crying or saying something incredibly stupid right in the middle.

Incredibly stupid how? Incredibly stupid that makes it seems as if you don't know what you're talking even though maybe you do or incredibly stupid because it's pointless to mention and you just hurt the other person's feelings?

And crying is a good thing, helps dry, irritated skin. Does wonders for your eyeballs.

I always say something that makes me look like I'm mentally handicapped, and like I had a lobotomy or something. Seriously ... when I argue I either end up in tears and frustrated and angry, or laughing because of my (pitiful) ability to argue.

We can watch Bill O'Reilly together and learn from the master.

Bill O'Reilly = God of the Verbal Smackdown.

I want him, Jon Stewart and possibly Rush L. in the same room, verbal challange of wits.

Throw my main man Ice T in there for some intimidation and Arnold in for some surprisingly smart remarks and you've got primetime TV!

Jon Stewart was on O'Reilly once. He's so tame it becomes annoying. I mean, you're rooting for Jon the whole way but he's so non-defensive, he refuses to argue at all. Bill was saying that stoners were the only people who watched Jon Stewarts show and Jon was mildly sarcastic about it. Very disappointing.

Awww. Yeah, it was a little annoying on that show you sent me. While he was cool, he was still a little passive. He's doing it because he believes that arguing is not the way to help, he believes that arguing is what is tearing our country apart and, while I respect him for it, I think some things are *worth* arguing for.

That sounds good, although I usually get bored when I watch people debate and argue. Tucker Carleton came to my school (for whatver godforsaken reason, as we're all liberals up here), and although he was a good speaker (and wasn't even debating or arguing with anyone), I nearly fell asleep.
