Missing the Superbowl

Jan 28, 2008 21:51

I'm new to the community (hello!) and I spent some time browsing the tags (very helpful, by the way), but I have a very specific, speculative-type question and I'm hoping that someone can help me.

My (new) boyfriend and I were suckered into attending a wedding on Sunday evening in Brooklyn (I have no clue what neighborhood... I just know it's a Turkish wedding at a restaurant). Since we're going to be missing the Superbowl, we were thinking of staying in the area after the wedding and "making a night of it." He suggested hitting up Serendipity for dessert after the wedding and perhaps catching a comedy show, but Serendipity is kind of far from Brooklyn, and I don't imagine that any comedy acts are going to try to rival the Superbowl. We're both into music, but not the punky music that's typical of the LES.

My concern is that it's Sunday... and not just ANY Sunday, but THE Sunday when everyone might be closing early to watch the Giants lose to the Patriots. He's kind of leaving it up to me to decide on a cool place or two to go... but I am drawing a blank. I'd prefer to stay in Brooklyn or at least the LES to catch something fun and/or unique. Any ideas? It looks like all of the great Cupcake places close around 7pm and we're probably not going to be let loose till 8:30 or 9pm.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me! This is a big night out for us and I want to have a lot of fun!
