Chicago and Michigan......

Friday morning Jessi, my daddy, and I packed up the car and drove off to Chicago! It took about 4 1/2 hours to get there but it was a really fun ride. Once we got into the city I was thinking "ohh yeah I'm totally cut out for big city life". Jess and Dad were saying how they could never live in this environment blah blah blah! I love it if I'm living in the burbs or boondocks or god forbid the woods when I'm older just kill me you guys.... Anyway we were able to check into the hotel early which was nice then we took Chicago's "subway" to the Theatre School so we knew what to do ahead of time for sat. Then we went back to the hotel which was basically on michigan ave. Walked around, ate, walked around, shopped, ate again(with a very cute waiter by the way:)), just a bunch of random fun stuff. Then we went to the hotel to sleep unfortunately I didn't sleep too well since I had to leave at 6:30am and I kept having this dream that I would wake up and the it would be 6:30 so I would end up late! Ughhh it was horrible.
So I ended up just getting up cause I couldn't stand it anymore. 6:30 rolled around and I was off. I actually got there a little early so I stopped at the starbucks down there to get a drink, then went back to the school. Everyone there had someone family or friend with them I was essentially the only one there by myself! All of us were broken up into about 12 to 14 groups of people and then taken to seperate green rooms to warm up. The audition process was first everyone performed there monologues infront of two faculty members. Then we did a vocal/movement classroom work with the same two people. And last we were paired off and did a cold reading of a 6 line open scene again with the same two people. After that we were free to go.
My monologue didn't go as well as I wanted it to, it felt like I kinda raced through it. But the lady faculty member then asked me to do it again but this time set it in a kitchen where I'm preparing my favorite meal. She asked me to first describe my kitchen to her and then begin the monologue with a specific action then as I was doing my monologue again she asked me to try different things with my voice and such. I really enjoyed that, and through this whole process I was thinking this is what I want I really truly do. The class session was the best part in my opinion, it was a lot of just becoming aware of your spine and the vibrations of your voice it was really cool. The open scene was fun too just being able to take something so short and turn it into a 6 min scene in any setting you choose.
I don't know if I'll get accepted I'm not sure I did enough to stand above the crowd but I still loved every minute of it.
Afterwards I was walking to where jess and dad were waiting with the car and while I was walking I was trying to get a hold of someone who would know the cast list and I couldn't!!!!! Finally a little later I got a hold of Brian and he told me I got Kate! She was the part I wanted so I'm extremely excited and I can't wait for tuesday! Any feelings I was having about my audition at DePaul were kinda washed away when he told me that which is probably a good thing for now since I won't be hearing anything from them till about mid March.
Anyway I hope everything is well with all of you guys. And have a wonderful day:)
