priorities: homework, writing, ...reading challenge?
I've still got two request spots left on my kinky_fantasy Prompt Me! post, if anyone wants them.
I've been hanging with the tykes all weekend, helping them get homework done. I feel bad--I said I'd be at Pirate Fest--but I really feel like family should come first, since the DadRents aren't home to make them do work, and Wen's getting worn out and has things she needs to do herself.
Also feel annoyed at myself for helping the kids get their homework done for the whole weekend...and still having homework left to do for all three of my classes this week. *headdesk*
Speaking of class, I've completed two of the four query letters I plan to write for Tuesday. The assignment is to write one with all the sending and editor information correct for where you'll submit to, but I have a few things I want to send out aside from the short story, and want the class to look over my queries first since my story summaries aren't active/strong enough yet. (Yay learning!) The teacher said I could bring in more than one query if I wanted (we're only officially sending off one piece for the class), so since there are only two other students now, I think we'll have time to go over them.
(Speaking of going over queries, how stupid, self-conscious, or perfectionist a question about story completion/polishing am I allowed to send the LT3 editor email address?)
I'm not sure if I mentioned the M/M Romance reading challenge I signed up for on GoodReads. Basically, there are 60 of us in the challenge, and each of us is choosing a book for everyone else to read. (Books are chosen from the personal shelves each participant designates when they sign up.) I've got 23 more people to choose for. The reading period is October 1 through December 31. The goal is to read at least 30 of the books chosen for us. This is probably a terrible idea for me, but I did realize I've been writing slash and homoerotica and meaning to read more of it to get a feel for the current market, so this could be my subconscious's way of getting me to do research.
I can appreciate that.
