My teachers are awesome.

All my life, I've been blessed with wonderful teachers--people who love their subjects, love to share their passion for what we're learning, and are good at doing just that.

There are a few here and there who stick out as exceptions to this rule, but on the whole, I've had a positive scholastic experience. A really, insanely positive experience.

It's cool to know some of those teachers who made such a difference for me are still curious about me, still hoping that I will succeed, still remember me with fondness.

I need to visit my high school before one of my teachers from this group retires. She encouraged me to write even though most of my English class hadn't understood the short story I wrote when I read it aloud. She's one of those who knew I was depressed and tried to help me instead of emotionally battering me. She was a stern teacher and hard grader, but she was fair, and she was good, and she led an interesting life that sometimes she'd share stories from when we read Thoreau.

I should really call the school tomorrow, find out what her schedule is. Possibly email a few of the teachers I want to see to let them know I'm coming. I'm excited to talk to them, even if I do feel like a failure most of the time in terms of my "age" to "level of education completed" ratio. Somehow, I don't think they'll mind too much that I'm slower than many of the students from my class. They're awesome that way.

happymaking, school, peaceful things
