...But yes, I am ridiculously sleepy now, so I think I shall post this and go to bed. ♥

The light twin called himself Gabriel. He always wore virginal white, though his was the expression most devilish, and his stage presence hypersexual. He sang of hidden love, of the body's perfection, and of sex in public places. He danced with the guitarists and slid down the microphone stand like a stripper. The screaming of fans, the underwear thrown onstage, the breasts bared for scribbled autographs: all of it yielded the same reaction, and his sly grin promised much for any who could decipher it.
The dark twin they called El. He was always in charcoal or black, always in shadow, his stage presence quiet and watchful. He didn't speak often in interviews, and though no less beautiful than his brother, he seemed muted, his vibrance more subtle. He went through the motions of stardom, but many fans believed his passion lay elsewhere--behind his keyboard, perhaps, where sometimes he performed solos so melancholy his voice would break with a longing that couldn't be fake.
Some fans liked to pretend the beautiful twins were in love, but everyone knew the little evidence of that had been meticulously staged for publicity. The brother themselves clearly knew of the rumors, and laughed or played along when such things were brought up in interviews. No one--not even the fans who wished it so--actually took the idea seriously. And to blame the fans for this blindness would be wrong of us, we who know why the brothers wrote the songs they did--the songs they inevitably gave the other to sing. Long before the limelight caught them, the twins had learned how best to hide what mattered.
