Some of this was X-posted to
phoenix_quills, but I wanted to know more about the people my friends adore. So here goes...
Last year, I read Carolyn See's book Making A Literary Life: Advice for Writers and Other Dreamers. One thing that really stuck with me is her advocating the writing of what she calls "charming notes."
Charming notes are basically a short note written to people in the writing industry (writers, editors, agents, journalists, etc.) telling them what you like about their work, who you are and how/why it touched you, and that you look forward to seeing more from them.
A little scary, but I want to do it. There are some writers who I absolutely adore, and who I want to say "Thank you" to for the ways their work has inspired and touched me.
So my question for you guys is, Who would you want to write a Charming Note to? It doesn't have to be limited to the writing industry, either. Who do you want to appreciate?
