There's a certain odd hollowness in his expression. 20 feet below him on the ground is the blood-soaked wreckage of the Gundam. There are enough parts left of it to be salvaged, theoretically, but for the time being it's a hulk of scrap

Those are involved with those Evangelion Units, right? I've barely been able to get any information about them from the database.

...The Eva units aren't any different from the angels themselves.

...Maybe they're worse...

I guess they're here because they're more on our side than the Angels are.

..Until we lose control of them... That boy almost died because the eva wasn't on our side.

I guess it comes down to a question of which is more likely to lead to the end of all life in the Earth Sphere - fighting the Angels without the Evas, or losing control of the Evas. And someone, deep inside NERV, has the answer to that question.
