I don't know what exactly it is, but there's something about the woman that just rubs me the wrong way, you know? Other than the pink, I mean. Which would be an obvious thing that rubs me the wrong way. But this - other thing - isn't.
You mean beyond the fact that she's obviously oblivious to the culture of Hogwarts and has a penchant for addressing us as toddlers? I was NOT appreciating being spoken to in such a manner. I'm starting to feel extremely glad I don't take DADA anymore.
I could see the merit of a few things she said in amongst the mumbo-jumbo, like that one about being against "progress for progress's sake." The DADA syllabus has been far too erratic over the years, after all, which is one of the reasons I don't take the class anymore.
But it's so not her place to say things like that. She's not the headmaster. Dumbledore is. And yes, I'm aware that in order to be the headmaster, she'd need a series of very complex spells performed on her, but you understood what I meant. Did you notice how taken aback Dumbledore initially looked when she started speaking, and how Professor Babbling and a few other teachers only clapped once or twice when she was (finally) done? The atmosphere was all very odd, if you ask me.
Well, fortunately as she's only a teacher and not even a house head, and I don't take her class, I'll have little to do with her, I suppose. So it's rather pointless fostering a dislike against someone I'll have naught to do with. But for what it's worth, so far I don't particularly care for
( ... )
That's precisely the reason why I am not taking it either. I'm only taking four NEWTs and the more guarentees I have of knowing what to expect out of a class, the better.
I noticed Professor Sinistra didn't seem inclined to clap at all until Professor Flitwick gave her a look. Indeed, the atmosphere was odd.
I don't know. By the way she was speaking, it was almost as though she intended to have much more to do within these walls than merely teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.
I always hated pink, but that could be because if it even gets within five metres of my hair there is a clash that blinds all present. So I will be sitting at the back of the class in DADA this year, I think.
I've just hated pink - period. I suppose it stems from resentment as being stuffed into it as a little girl. And that was before I was even old enough to know what "gender roles" and "gender stereotypes" were.
I think it's utterly shameful that society thinks that baby girls must look like people-shaped pink marshmellows. I find that less off-putting than that (well, by now, quite obviously) infamous cardigan.
Ohh, do you think if we sent The Kooks With Underused Brains to try and charm it a more bearable colour she'd get the hint?
I move that Umbridge's attire is proof that pink is inherently evil. Hem-hem.
