Well, I'm currently at my aunt's, house sitting and taking care of her horses and mules, all eight of them. God its exhausting, but at least I was allowed to bring Piper (my dog) with me. Not that he'd be all that great for protection despite his immense size, he's just a goof ball really. My aunt's animals are another matter entirely, different from my own; touchy things and the mules are quite different and its not just the ears. Leading Jessi (my aunt's main mule) was a very different from leading a horse, not nearly as soft (and no, I'm not referring to her coat), she seemed only interested in doing what she wanted, which my aunt had informed me of. Apparently its a mule thing. It was more amusing than frustrating and it wasn't as if she was threatening or uncontrollable, just being, well a mule.
I'm sure she behaves much better for my aunt, which I can understand. My horse, is more or less, the same; she doesn't care for anyone on her back but me. She won't buck them off (unless they piss her off or are just completely incompetent), but she certainly won't make anything easy for them. But back to my current situation: I wake up with frost on the grass every morning and the water frozen like glass before it splinters and fractures into jagged edges under the heel of my boot. I spent over two hours cleaning out their stalls and re-filling their water. And sense its winter, my aunt has the outdoor water pipes shut off for the majority of the time, so I have to manually turn it on and off from the cellar. (Fucking spiderwebs are everywhere). I'm still afraid I'm going to forget to turn it off or do something wrong, resulting in a broken pipe and flooded ground. Not something I want to explain upon their return.
And I'm still not sure how long I'm staying. My aunt her finace (now husband) are coming back on third of January, but their extra housemate might return on the 31st. It doesn't matter to me and I wanted to be home for the new year anyway.
Aaaand that's the end of my pointless rant. Thanks for listening (reading).
Be safe. And have a Happy New Year!
