Just when you think you're in control,
Just when you think you've got a hold,
Just when you get on a roll,
Oh here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
I am severely behind in the discussion of my week, due to a promise I made to myself to stay off the internet a bit more. The backup proved to be substantial, so here I am having spent the morning passionately blogging about my life (needed something verbally creative) and applying for casual work with the U of S while reducing my inbox to something less than a hundred important emails that need replies or action of some sort. SICK.
Anyway. What's the last thing everyone knows about me? Nearly a week. I ran a lot of errands and got a lot of paid work back on track. I met with my Pastor, which was desperately needed - he told me to develop a Life Call Display and only handle stuff when I can. Good advice. And he gave me a lot more good advice than that.
I still haven't dealt with my hard drive crash. I really hope I can get it back on line, or at least recover my files without too much cost.
Friday I spent lots of the day doing life organization and then afterwards had an important meeting about C&C and then an executive meeting with the Ballroom Club about my editing work on their newsletter. Felt like all day meetings as a consequence.
Saturday was fantastic. I slept in, went for lunch with Mark and then he took me down to the Rat Hole, an ice racing track where they've graded the snow off a frozen lake. I'd never been on a frozen lake, the ice when you look down is unreal, beautiful and spidery. And of course Mark showed me how to slide around corners and then taught me while I drove a little. As soon as my car is fixed I am SO going back there. you can't get above 40 KM anyway even on the straight stretch, so the chances of destroying my car when I'm the only one there are pretty slim. Anything crazy you can do in life with minimal danger to life, limb, and property? That is something you should always do. After that Mark dropped me off at Paul's place and I ended up spending nearly all day with him and Roberta and Drew. It was fun times.
Sunday I went for lunch at The Mandarin for the second time, this time with Isaac. Who ordered chicken feet on a whim. They were disgusting and I gagged, but never lose a chance, just like I said. Then I went to church early with him because he had worship practice and prayed for almost two whole hours - intersected by arranging a trip to the movies for later. Then I went to the church pre-service prayer meeting. I felt very prepared for worship, and much more easily worshiped, I even felt ready when we took communion. After church we supped briefly at Quiznos and then went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was excellent. After the movie Chantal, Kaylee, Dave and I went to Timmy's and I had chai, which set me up for life. =)
It was a weekend of firsts, and now it's a week of work. Lots of work.
I may disappear from the internet again for a few days, and I leave for Edmonton and Breakforth on Thursday.
