For if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith...
If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die..."
Since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable,
and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:
"Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you.
Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
I'm back.
In a strange parallel to Easter, I awoke the second time this morning and found my soul back in place again. The first time I awoke was not so encouraging. I'd only briefly forgotten just how horrible the consequences are of using plaster by hand. It sucks all the life, all the water out of you. When I finally succumbed to necessity and put some lanolin on them last night, they burned. At about 5am, though, they were not merely burning, they were on flaming with torturous pain and itch. I ran cold water over them until they went numb. It's not the first time this has happened to me, but the last time it was so bad was when I spent hours working on plaster. I'll need to be a little more careful to hydrate my hands better after doing plaster work next time. I'm grateful my work with that ghastly material is over for now and that the itch is back down to a level I can ignore.
I am about about halfway to finishing all my paper stuff. I'm gradually crossing stuff off the list as I near the end of this insanity. I still have to write my two page critical analysis paper, placing my sculpture in the context of art history, and I still have to write most of my paper for Digital Imagery, but thankfully that involves re-watching The Game and re-reading Invitation to the Game, both of which I am looking forward to doing. I still have to print a whole lot of photographs, but hopefully the processing machine will be back online and I can do some of the prints on resin-coated paper. I need to sand down the plaster heart and paint it with silver paint and work with the silicone...
One week. I leave next Sunday night for the Holy Land. The place where the separation veil was torn through the middle. The place in this physical earth where death was conquered. Once. For all. He is risen! He is risen indeed.
If only I could find the words to say to let You know how much You've touched my life...
You saved my life from a colourless one,
From a colourless past you asked me to the paint store.
