Exciting things about today...

So, here goes on some interesting things about life as it goes.

My prof and my classmates all liked my spoon sculpture. I have lots of photos of my work and other people's work, even some video. I'm going to do my best to post it sometime tonight, but we'll see.

Giant hubbub in the art department - there's a huge picture at the top of the stairwell of a vagina, complete with the rest of the female nude. Some people have complained. An outspoken girl in my art class said that if you have trouble seeing a vagina, you have bigger problems. My prof agreed with her. I am unsure of my place in the issue. If it was for my opinion, they'd take it down simply because it's crappy art - it was a charcoal sketch and looked messy, technique-less, and not even all that anatomically correct. Except for that one section. Second, VASU, the visual art student's union, is the group that controls what gets put up in the hallways, and I know some of the members. This was put up as sensationalism, not art. It's pretty much just porn. I see little artistic content, and honestly, if I did, I'd be okay with it being up in a public hallway. My family would hate it, as would many of my friends.

The only thing it really does is cause a fuss. As if we need more of these sorts of things. Funny how nobody ever complains about the penis stuff  upstairs, as well - that was the outspoken chick's only thing I agreed with. But overall, I'd be happy if it was taken down.

In other news, they couldn't find a model for us today, so one of my classmates, who was also in my first year drawing class, posed nude for us. This brings the naked men seen in person count to 3 in my lifetime. Why am I keeping count? No particular reason, except it's still a new thing really.

Eh. Exec meeting in a few minutes.
