Several days back, it went through the news that Alec Baldwin was 'considering' a political run, if for no other reason than to butt heads with Joseph Lieberman. They quoted a Playboy interview, in part: "I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run. ... I'd love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him." When told what Baldwin had said and asked how he felt, Lieberman responded: "You know, I mean, I must say that I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian, and if he wants to run, that's his right."
My first thought was, gee, if Alec Baldwin has no use for you, it must really be curtains. My second thought was that my respect for Lieberman has increased. I felt that was a very classy response. His current financial woes aside, I kind of wish Stephen Baldwin was more politically inclined.
